But I do think that RS brought up an interesting point here. Tory did kill Cally in a moment of self preservation. If the Four had been outed as Cylons at that point I don’t think they could have been saved. Cally was not it a mindset to be reasoned with at the moment; and who’s to say you could reason with anyone you just found out they were all Cylons. Also, Tory made sure to protect innocent parties by making sure Nicky was safe before she sent Cally out the air lock.
Athena on more than one occasion has risked the life of the whole fleet by taking rash actions to protect her child from (sometimes real, others just perceived) danger…
Perhaps…but she also tortured Cally by waiting for her to wake up before sending her out the airlock!
I was finally able to watch the finale last eve (I waited for my husband to come home from TX)-I thought seeing both Boomer & Tory offed was AWESOME! But it was Boomer that I actually had a tinge of empathy for, although I have no idea why. Maybe it was because she finally tried to redeem herself just a tad.
And Tory? I don’t think she felt bad at all-I think it was the fear she was about to be exposed & knew Chief would go nutty. I actually cheered a little watching him snap her neck, and that’s not usually something I would promote as fun :D.
Now I have to watch it again, once was not enough!
Tory could have prevented Cally from killing herself without revealing her Cylon nature. In fact, it really seemed that Tory had talked Cally out of suicide right before she backhanded her across the airlock. Tory has always been too willing to use deception to accomplish her goals. First she tries to steal the election, then she sleeps with Baltar to get information from him. Then, she convinces Cally to trust her only to steal her child and murder her.
Boomer seems to have followed this same path after New Caprica. She deceived the rest of the 8s when she voted against her line in support of Cavil. She deceived Ellen that she was helping her escape Cavil. She deceived the Chief and Helo to steal Hera. Then she deceived Cavil’s forces to rescue Hera.
The difference between Boomer and Tory is that Boomer recognized the choices she had made had transformed her from the naive Raptor pilot of the miniseries into a mere puppet of evil.
When Sonia said the cylon’s wanted to try Boomer for treason I was shocked, like “are you frakking serious!!!” People were calling them the rebel cylons, doesn’t that make them the ones who committed treason not her? And on top of that look what they did to her. They made her and that 6 on the Pegasus sleeper agents, forced them to believe they were human and to betray the people they loved and respected. How could they not realize that would mess them up. Her fellow 8’s turned their backs on her when they allowed her to be made a sleeper, again when she redownloaded and wouldn’t accept she was a cylon, again on New Caprica, and then they’re shocked and hurt when she walks away from them to side with Cavil. BullShit!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

But then, it’s also kinda realistic…
Boomer is the missed chance. You can’t truly hate her because you know she’s just messed up in the head. She discovered her life was a lie and when everyone found out they turned on her and when she tried to do right they still did not except her. She started helping Cavil etc etc. She had all these chances but was so conflicted and confused she always missed them. Only once she missed her last chance to be truly good did she make a good choice and even then it was based on emotion
She seems to acknowledge she has lost hope because after giving Hera to Cavil she stops going to her “happy place”. That place was her hope, her peace, she gave it up did the right thing. And I think she knew they would kill her and I think she wanted them to kill her because she was tired. There was no more second chances, no more hope, no more trust, and she was tired of all the confusion. So she let them kill her.
