OTOH, how much damage could one helicopter really do? Just because the pod people don’t show emotion or individuality, it doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t defend themselves using the firepower of this fully armed and operational [strike]battle station[/strike]! Army base. I meant army base.
Even if they got away safely, who’s to say the pods hadn’t gotten out already? Particularly considering that the military is especially well-suited for disseminating them, far and wide.
I thot they had the whole military with them. It was just them in a frakkin helicopter? Lame.
The movie never makes that clear. We only see his helicopter shooting, so we are led to believe that he’s alone. OTOH, beyond the fact that the aliens allowed themselves to be destroyed, he’s given clearance to land without an escort, so arguably there’s a chance they had help. There’s no way that a military base could be blown to hell without someone noticing, either way.
