well, I’m jealous as hell that both of you will be attending what looks to be an awesome GWC event. I will, of course, be quite happy to see the new flick with bkitty & the Hub, but I’ll be thinking of the bunch of you having a great time together in NYC. take lots of pictures!!!

I have just been facing this dilemma. For so long, I’ve used fantasy as an escape, a drug really. It has afforded me a refuge from reality but at a cost. This fantasy persona is incredible and I have tried to live up to its expectations. IRL, this has created much anguish on how I think of myself. So, who is the real me? Who do I want to be and do I have a choice? With fantasy and reality overlapping, I question my sanity sometimes.

Questioning your own sanity is always a good thing. Becoming certain of it never ends well for anyone.

But you know what, this may be a little TMI.

Forgive me, I’m tired.

Point I guess I was trying to make was who is my real self? Have I given him a chance?

I think that’s one of the great things about this thing of ours.

We’re geeks. We always have been. To differing degrees, we’ve all had to change who we know we are to fit in with a majority who don’t understand us, who can’t understand us. Some of us have been fortunate and found others like ourselves IRL. But for the most part, we spend our days surrounded by people who don’t “get” us. In such a situation, is life based in fantasy really that far from the truth? At least here, with others like ourselves, we see the fantasy for what it is: a reality that most people can’t see and wouldn’t understand if they could. What it really comes down to is… what’s so great about just being normal anyway?
