Best final words EVER.
Eddie’s line, “It’s too bad she won’t live, but then again who does?” I was reminded of that when I first watched the BSG mini-series with Caprica’s first line, “Are you alive?”
I still have to read Philip K. Dick’s novel.
it’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, right?
Here’s a little trivia. In the original they ended with a voice-over and footage from the movie ‘The Shining’ of them driving into the moutains. Atrocious!
Yep.
Earlier we saw Joanna Cassidy. She played the stripper with the snake. I was watching ‘Boston Legal’ and she was on it playing one of Denny Crane’s love interests. I could not place here. I had to look it up.
oh, yeah–she played T’Pol’s mother on Enterprise, no?
why do I keep embarrassing myself with all the Enterprise trivia?
That line seems so prominent now, but when I first watched this movie, the line that really got me was the one I quoted in the first post: “How can it not know what it is?”
I must admit, that concept sparked a lot of self-discovery and became quite an obsession for me for years afterward. The classic “cogito, ergo sum” argument seemed to all too easy for me. What could you ever really know about your true self if all your perceptions were based on deceptions? Was it not all the more plausible that “I think, therefore I am” was grossly oversimplified, and that it was more likely that “I think that I think, therefore I think that I am”? Needless to say, that one really fueled the ol’ cynicism, that’s for sure.
Speaking of? I wonder if the Trinity will do an Indy arc.
BTW, for Classic movie Monday what should be the cut-off year/decade for films? Right now, I’m looking at the 40s/50s but I’d love to frak ‘Jaws’ and ‘Amadeus’. You know?
For all intents and purposes, they’re two almost completely unrelated works. Both great in their own right, but don’t expect them to be remotely similar.
I remember that. I didn’t realize the source of the footage though.
I’d be in for either of those–2 of my very very favorites.
the 8pm start time is highly problematic for me, though
Yeah. T’Les. She was also on the first season of Heroes, played a scientist in the past or something.
Don’t fret on Enterprise knowledge. We all wanted it to be good. Well, it wasn’t that bad. Neither was Voyager. It’s Trek and therefore forgivable.
a man after my own heart
RE: 8pm. Yeah I know. My feeling is we could do an all night thing. Since they are classics, spoilers are silly. We could frak at 8pm and the West Coast can frak @ 10pm. The other option is once ‘Castle’ finishes Season 1 we can start @ 10pm. Flexible frakkin, as it should be. Right?
That’d be awesome! Of course, we don’t really have to wait for them to get to them. It’s not like we couldn’t watch them and then watch them again a few months later.

IMO, that one’s your baby. You decide what constitutes a “classic”. I certainly don’t think we necessarily have to define it by an arbitrary number of decades.
I believe Monday is the last Castle of the season. I really don’t think I’d be interested in the east/west fraks. all my favorite people will already have watched and I’d likely be on my own, or with Tray, if I’m lucky
I have just been facing this dilemma. For so long, I’ve used fantasy as an escape, a drug really. It has afforded me a refuge from reality but at a cost. This fantasy persona is incredible and I have tried to live up to its expectations. IRL, this has created much anguish on how I think of myself. So, who is the real me? Who do I want to be and do I have a choice? With fantasy and reality overlapping, I question my sanity sometimes.
But you know what, this may be a little TMI.
Forgive me, I’m tired.
Point I guess I was trying to make was who is my real self? Have I given him a chance?
can’t speak to whether you’ve given your “real self” a chance, but your IRL self, whom we have met, seems just fine
My thots exactly. Castle only has one more week left, so we can move the classics back to 10/7 as of the 18th.
All this has happened before…
Alrighty. I was gonna start with my all-time favorites.
I hear ya. But some of us eastenders stay up, u know.
