Are all "Head" characters the same entity?

Without saying who or what the entity is, are the “Head-” characters – definitely Baltar’s Head-Six, Baltar’s Head-Baltar, Six’s Head-Baltar, and, hell, who knows, possibly the non-creepy Leoben from Starbuck’s “Maelstrom” visions – all the different manifestations of the same entity?

not a diggedy darn clue

Agree with Sean - Baltar and Six are nuttier than a Payday

I voted frakked but I do think they might be the same entity. Different heads for different occasions but yea, one entity speaking.

What if the “Head” character is the final cylon!

If they are not, then perhaps some kind of Psion, or Angel, or just a messenger from who knows where sent, or chosen by destiny, to appear whenever for whomever.

Six needed help, it was there, Baltar needed guidance, it was there, Starbuck needed a message, or saving, it was there…

Well i have a this theory there was small stockpile of crazy Candy pie, Now Baltar and Caprica love’s themselves a good slice of pie, so they ate it all up, so there would be two entities Baltar’s psychosis and Caprica’s.

so in short i haven’t the foggiest, but I’m eating some pie so maybe i’ll find out the answer that way, hey my head personality looks a lot like pirate Steve.

Here’s my read of these three. Head-Baltar & Head-Six act rather alike and have similar views of humanity - suave and cynical - so I suspect they’re related somehow. They serve the same master, they’re cut from the same mold, or may even be the same entity, etc. Head-Leoben is very different in methods, apparent goals, and understanding of people. He’s a younger looking Clarence from It’s a Wonderful Life… except that Starbuck DOES jump, but whatever.

Starting on Kobol, there have been references to a war between the Gods of the Colonies. So, I think we’re seeing these two divine factions battling it out through their mortal surrogates.

Besides, Head-Balthar’s chat with Balthar makes me think Head-Baltar & Head-Six are different. If they were the same being in different skins, there would have to be some reason for the sudden switch. But, I’m having trouble coming up with anything, so I going with different.

I’m another “frakked if I know” vote, but I’m tending towards a yes, they are the same entity… and I’m still waiting for the Caprica / HeadSix scene!! and more Baltar on Baltar, of course. It makes me wish we had seen more Caprica with HeadBaltar, because those scenes were pretty amusing as well.

And by entity, I’m using the widest sense of the term.

Frakked if I know, but Baltar-Head-Baltar’s question, “Why would she need to disguise herself to (as?) you?” makes me think “No.”

My thinking on this is that I disagree with the premise of the question. I really think that Head Six and Head Baltar are completely in the head of Baltar (and Head Baltar those couple of times in the head of CapSix.) In other words, the “heads” are figments of the imagination. In the 1st season we, as an audience, were dangled the notion that Head Six was some “real” “physical” (or maybe even spiritual) entity of some kind. But at this point I conclude the “heads” are litterally all in the head.

I can’t see them as the same character for this reason alone; Why would Head Baltar suddenly appear to the real Baltar. I don’t think their agendas are 100% the same.

Having said that it seems strange Head Baltar suddenly appears to fleshy Baltar once (in my opinion) Baltar has accepted his faith…

I think they are manifestations of the same entity, which is the Cylon God (in other posts I’ve argued that Baltar is the Cylon God, but I won’t repeat that argument again here). So they act out parts in a common plan and are centrally directed, but are not necessarily the same. I guess I see them as projections from a central source, routed via the brains of those who interact with them.

I totally agree. The Head crew has always been about the Plan (whatever that may be at the time). In the first and second season the Plan was making cylon babies. The Cylon(z)s tried it at least two ways that we know of, Sharon and Helo and the Farm. Head Six was very focused and sure that Hera would be born. It did worked, at least until Roslin duped 'em and hid Hera.

Then they needed a new Plan, enter Head Baltar who instigated via Caprica Six a cylon change. Instead of eradicating the human population, we should try and live with them. That new plan didn’t exactly work, but then via the hybrid, Three caught wind of Hera still being alive. Ah back to the old Plan.

Head Leoben enters and leads Kara into the maelstrom and onto Earth. Allegedly. sarcasm unbound Head Leoben may not fit the role since he did not interact with Kara in the real world.

Head Six is a zealous believer in the one true god and has been consistantly converting Baltar. Head Baltar’s m.o. is to help Caprica be more human. Baltar on Baltar action just revealed that Tory was special. I would say that was Plan specific but there isn’t enough evidence. It would seem though that as we get closer to the end all the agendas will converge.

if they are angels of the one true God then it makes sense that Head-Baltar would appear to Gaius as opposed to Head-Six. They have different missions.

In the Jewish tradition Angels mentioned in the Bible & Talmud each can only perform one task (that is why there are 3 angels who came to greet Abraham in the desert, each one had a distinct purpose). the root for the word malach (angel) is the same as for the word melacha (work) because they do the work of God.

If the heads are angels in that vein then the purpose of each one is different, sometimes a Head-Baltar sometimes a Head-Six and maybe sometimes a Head- Leoben will appear. They are manifestations of the same entity being expressed in different forms.

What their purposes are, I have no idea

Yes! No! Maybe!

…what was the question?

Him, Six seeing Head-Leoben would be interesting.

Following up on this point and the discussion in the recent podcast:

If Caprica Six saw Head Six, would that lead to some Six-on-Six action?

I’m gonna have to go with, YES!

Survey Says!! BING!!

I could be wrong… For my guess, since Caprica Six and Baltar are having the same (or same-ish) visions, I (personally) am taking it for granted that there’s a common source.
