I voted no. I think the latest Head Baltar is actually now his conscious, you know, Jiminy Cricket. When Baltar prayed for the boy something changed. I’m not sure he’ll stay changed, but something in him did indeed change.
As for Head Six and her Head Balter, I think they are connected somehow- soul mates? Angels? God? I’m open to any ideas.
Maybe it was trying to upload their brain patters during a nuclear blast that got them mixed together so there is a bit of Balter in six, and bit of six in Baltar and the hallucinations are a way to blend their personalities.
This would make sense to me if they were BOTH uploading at the same time, but I have trouble buying the idea of Six becoming somehow mixed up with Baltar if he simply survived the blast and then got away. But who knows - whatever plot demands…
Seriously, if the Head’s were manifestations of the other’s sub-conscious, that would explain the dark idealization each Head is of its real counterpart.
I think it’s worth repeating something James Callis said in response to a question about the difference Head- and real Baltar acting-wise: Head-Baltar has his !#$@# together.
Good point… I forget: How in-depth was the discussion of the fact that Baltar (apparently) survived the blast, but Caprica Six apparently didn’t, even though he was shielded only by her, who’s at least twice as physically tough as your average bear? When he stumbled to Helo’s ship, he was cut up some from the blast, right? I mean, no chance he unwittingly downloaded after the blast?
Scratch on the cheek I think, but not much to show for a shock-wave from a nuclear blast that obliterated the building he was in. If they got mixed up in uploading/downloading, he obviously has to be a Cylon. But if so, he’s the final Cylon and one of the Five, and I don’t think they upload and download like the others.
I still think Head Six and Head Baltar are deliberate constructions by some force (the Cylon God, Baltar…) whose purpose is to guide both Six and Baltar in some mission or other. Not sure about Head Leoben - maybe the same thing but maybe not.
I was talking about this on one of Emily’s Talkshoe 'casts…If Head Six and Head Baltar were to appear together in poor Baltar’s head, and were expressing opposing views about a course of action, who would Baltar listen to more ?? It was theorized that he’d do what he always does, which is whatever is best for him, no matter who said it. Although Six can be pretty, ah, convincing when she has to.
My theory on why Head Baltar appeared to Baltar in S4.02: He was pressed for time, and Baltar – being the egotistical cat he is – is more less likely to argue with a suave, confident version of himself that with a Head Six. So based on that logic, my guess is that he’d listen to himself over Six… but he could be persuaded.
My mom has this theory - that basically Head Six has always been a section of Baltar’s own psyche and the her purpose is to help Baltar deal with what he did by making him feel as though he’s special, that he has a destiny, and that there is a “good” reason for his betrayal of his own people. This portion of his psyche takes on the form of Six because that’s the source of his guilt and because she makes it possible for him pretend that it’s NOT just him, but some other entity validating the whole thing. But now she thinks Baltar is actually starting to BELIEVE that God has a plan for him and so his need for external validation is less necessary and so his “head” person takes the form of himself - and that’s actually closer to facing the reality that it’s basically just him.
Um - that’s a negative ghostrider…my mother is actually the one that got me into BSG in the first place. I was home visiting for Christmas one year and she was all , “dude you have to watch this show - it’s the best thing ever” and Me being the dutiful daughter I had to check it out.
Well most of the things that Head Six “knows” are things that Baltar himself could deduce based on his experience and the fact that he’s a genius. The only thing we can’t figure out is how he knew that there was going to be a human/cylon baby. Six had been talking about it for a while before Baltar found out that Sharon and Helo were having a baby. And I don’t really have an answer to that one.
