Android phone OS lover

I have been using my Tmobile MyTouch for about 2 months now, and boy o boy am I hooked. I was just wondering if anyone else in the hive is android and what you think of yours.

I got a Verizon Droid for Christmas last year and am simply loving it. It’s a bit too addictive, though, to be able to go online whenever I like, and I’m fighting the urge to check email while stuck in traffic or get a Twitter account. Other than that, though, it’s great.

Do they have the capacity to sync music? If so what program do you use on your computer as I am sure iTunes won’t sync with a non-Apple device.

I have a moto cliq with the android OS and I am addicted too. It never leaves my hands for long. Love the 5mp camera and physical keyboard. I’ve only had to force close one app in the whole time I have had it. Solai, I haven’t synced music to it yet but I believe mine sync’s through amazon.

there’s a program called double twist, thats like itunes, its free but obviously not as fit and polished. i think it was based on open source.

i bought an ipod touch and it has made me want an iphone very badly. i keep hearing rumors that iphone may come to verizon, so i am holding off. i love verizons coverage. never had a problem. if the i phone doesnt make it over to verizon, i guess i have to decide either to switch carriers or get a droid.

does the droid have apps comparable to apple. i know they have less apps, but are the ones they do have cool?

We made the switch from Verizon to AT&T to get the iPhone, and haven’t seen much difference in coverage. The only noticeable one is the underground portions of the DC Metro, which Verizon has covered but AT&T doesn’t. NYC and San Fran. seem to be the problematic urban areas.

Songbird is brought to you by Mozilla, the same guys that brought us Firefox.

It works really well on Windows/Linux. It syncs music to MTP players and my Ipod nano.

The thing about Android is it also runs on phones. i am not sure if Songbird every android phone, but it for sure works with Motorola Droid.

good lord i thought i was the only one;

love my mytouch, small powerful has the “air control app” which has stolen much of my free moments during the day. still running 1.5 :frowning: but it has been upgraded with multi touch, and sometime this year rogers will update it to 2.0 or 2.1 and than i’ll get turn by turn

yes and no android market pretty much has you covered for apps; but they are less professional and not as many high end games. still cause there is no approval process you get some really cool things. overall its really the only other choice right now. If you don’t go with apple. still its like 30 000 apps, so you’ll generally be able to do what you want app wise.

I don’t actully use mine for music. but the apps I use ALL THE TIME are

Listen - it will download podcasts…thats how I get GWC

Swift - is a great twitter client for Android

Aldiko - ebook reader ( I use calibre to convert other formats to epub)

Audio book - duh - for listen to audio books.

AP mobile - for news

F1 news - just for Formula one news

Turbo list - is a fantastic check list program.

then i cycle game on and off…

thanks for the suggestion

i don’t use my phone for music as it isn’t good enough quality and my mp3 player is smaller than a zippo. but i’m currently switching over my library from itunes cause regardless of phone sync, this software is much better than itunes

edited: okay dude your my hero for this week; this is a really great program, actually got me to switch back to using this (which is basically firefox) as my browser. basically mixing iTunes with awesome plugins with firefox all in one program…

re edited: this thing just automatically transcoded tracks from aac to mp3 so my player could play the files when I downloaded a playlist ossim.
your so my hero right now i’m almost free of itunes…

After that endorsement I have to at least try the software… I will report back.

My one BIG dissappointment with the MyTouch is that the camera could not be worse. it is such a bad camera they should not have bothered. but that is sort of minor.

you are welcome. the way it subscribes to podcasts is pretty amazing too.

by the way, Songbird has the MOST awesome lyrics plugin in all of music players.

if you like to sing along but can’t remember squat like me, the experience with this addon is out of this world. it is fast, seamless, and delivers almost every song. I have used other music players, such as Banshee, Rhythmbox, Winamp, itunes, none of them has anything close to this.

WOW! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you… I mother thanks you, my wife thanks you. but most of all I thank you.

Songbird is fantastic.

Oh and by the way I am now on last fm as gwcwolfgeek. I am just beginning to build by library and it’s a bit eclectic. anybody else on last fm?

thats the one thing that can’t get going i mean it does some of them through subscriptions but sometimes not its still not picking up the feeds but its probably my fault somehow.

So say we all

so say we all

so say we all

So say we all!

i feel like i should start a separate thread for Songbird… but anyway…

to those who use Songbird in Linux… sadly Songbird will no longer put out official releases for Linux.

Since Songbird and Mozilla are open source, there will be a community supported project called Nightingale.

http://getnightingale.org/

there is no deb package, source tarball or anything of the sort yet…

old Songbird for the moment runs fine on my Karmic Koala, so i am probably not going to mess with it…

it’d be sad if the day comes it will stop working all together.

Android and iphone lovers… you may now join forces and be in the same camp
