There’s that scene with Arya. I couldn’t remember if it was in SoS or FfC.
I’m not sure about that scene off the top of my head but most of the scenes used to support it are from Ned’s flashbacks and Dany’s scene in the House of the Undying.
It’s the scene where
Arya meets Jon’s milk-brother. It is actually one of the counter arguments.
Ah, that one. I think that scene is in Storm.
Ack! So…should I read it?
ETA: LOL, Pike. Love your signature.
Feast for Crows? Definitely!
ETA: LOL, Pike. Love your signature.
Danke!
I agree with Pike, you should definitely read A Feast For Crows but the theory under the spoiler tag is up to you. It’s not really a spoiler but you may prefer to avoid the theory until you’ve finished Feast.
yeah, I meant should I read that spoiler. I’ve already started on AFfC. I couldn’t even wait til the end of the tv series season to start on GoT. I’m reading it all. (I’ve no idea how people lasted waiting for the books to be published. Not gonna enjoy that wait after book 5, that’s for sure. Maybe that’s why I’m reading them slowly. I need to savor them.)
But ok, I’ll wait til I’m done to read that theory. Thanks for letting me know what’s safe and what isn’t. I imagine these newbie questions must get annoying at some point, so thanks for bearing with me!
You’re welcome, and the questions aren’t annoying. I like it when newbie’s get into the series. It’s not really a spoiler but since some people prefer to avoid theories until after finishing all the books so it’s good Pike put the spoiler tag on it. I didn’t even think about that when I was posting it since I was half asleep thanks to my medication.
The wait for Dance has been terrible, especially since I knew that it was originally supposed to be part of Feast until it got too large and was then cut out. Now I’m just hoping that I’ll be able to download it after midnight on my NookColor so I can start reading it ASAP.
Either way, thanks for letting me spew out all the WTF exclamations for the past 2 books, even though they’ve been published for years and I’m only WTFing now. I couldn’t help it, and I guess this thread has become my, well, my place for spewage.
Oh, right! The book is out …in a few hours! Gosh, you must be teeming with excitement!! Have the best night ever, and I hope the book is excellent! (I’m supposing you’re not going to sleep much tonight, huh?)
Though that reminds me, I definitely will need to step away from this thread for a while, darn it. As River Song would say…spoilers.
Actually the plan is to start a seperate thread for that book so those who haven’t read it don’t get spoiled coming here. Plus this thread is only for the first 4 books.
I am excited. The wait for the last few hours is killing me.
LOL. I avoided this thread for a while anyway. But yay, thanks for having a new thread for the new book (which I already bought on kindle, lol, even though I’m still early days in book 4).
Now, book 4 discussion:
This is a bit odd, because for now I’m still really early on (I think. The lack of page numbers is the one thing I really hate about ebooks. I don’t know how far along I’m in, especially since I bought book 1-4 in a pack, so kindle addresses the 5 books as one single giant book in terms of the percentage progress indicator. I’m going to guess I’m about 1/4, 1/5 in this book), and I think it has to do with the fact that so much of the early action is all happening with the Greyjoy peeps. Like, I like Asha a lot, but she’s the only one I have a prior investment in, so I almost feel like I’m struggling a bit to get through learning about who’s who in the clan and their fight to be king just so I can get to the next chapter where it’ll be about the Dornes (who are also mostly new, but I find myself more interested so far with them then the Greyjoys), Brienne, Cercei, Jaime, Arya, Sam/Jon, etc. Is it just me? Or does book 4 feel like it has a slower start than the rest? I’m still enjoying it, of course, but I feel like I’m not as invested in the Greyjoy stuff, and I’m a little annoyed with myself that I’m not, because I’m probably missing some giant reveals because I forgot so and so’s name or something - which is why I’m reading it so much slower because I dont’ want to miss anything.
But I am enjoying what seems to be a lot of female POVs so far in book 4. It’s pretty neat to finally get an abundance of female perspective, where they’re all facing different kinds of predicaments and how they’re dealing (or not dealing) with being a woman in Westeros, and how differently they’re dealing with them because of who they are.
Not sure where else to put this, but the Dunk & Egg stories are going to be sold as a collection. Eventually.
Cool, thanks for sharing Pike It’s frustrating to see people reference them and not be able to get hold of them to read
It’ll be nice to get all the Dunk and Egg books in one place. I hunted down copies of Legends and Legends II. I got the hardbacks reasonably cheap as well. Warriors I was able to get brand new. I’m looking forward to the new D&E book as I think some of the events in D&E will be important to the main series.
After some slow reading progress I’ve gotten back to Storm of Swords and just got completely blindsided by them killing off Robb and Catelyn. I could tell something was up with all the Freys who just happened to be “away”, but I didn’t expect them to kill those two off, especially with Arya so close to rejoining them. Sounds like she’ll have a few more names for her list.
Edit: Trying things out. Nothing to see here.
For those who would like to discuss A Dance With Dragons (with spoilers!) check out this thread, we can keep this thread for the first four books
Sweeeet! After having caught up to and including A Feast for Crows, I can scour back in this thread.
This is clearly a time for me to re-read the greatest series on paper.
