A Game of Thrones (HBO)

Could they possibly make it bigger?

Edited it, so you get the link and the pic won’t explode the GWC forum walls.

Much appreciated.

That’s very cool. I can see the Blackfish was left out, I really hope that doesn’t mean he won’t be showing up eventually. I know he’s a fairly minor character, and most of his bits could be assigned to others, but I’d still be disappointed if he doesn’t show up.

Credit where it’s due: That’s a quote from a pre-Dwayne Johnson The Rock. But the pro wrestling paradigm is sadly lacking in most arts discourse.

I finally got around to watching this. Peter Dinklage is teh OSSIM!! I know nuthin’ about the series of books but I am really diggin’ the TV show.
I want a direwolf. I can’t believe they pushed the child out the window. I’m glad they didn’t kill the little guy. Whoa lotta incest going on…ewww. I want to party with Tyrion Lannister. Khal Drogo is a big mofo. Arya is #2 of my favorite characters (Tyrion being #1). Daenerys is preggers (My wife said, "No kiddin’! They’ve been screwin’ in every scene!)
Remember, Winter is Coming!

I’d like to see this next season, TBH.

Epic Youtube comment on the original video.

I played this at my Grandpa’s funeral and he came back to life wearing gold armor? and killed a dragon!

When shit starts going down I’d love them to use that. Like giant battle episodes

Wow, that is awesome. I just played air guitar but using my cat.

Cat guitar then?

You have a problem with cat guitars?

So can you see any resemblance between these two characters?

He felt surprise was wiser…

Finally had some time to watch the show, and had a marathon of all 5 episodes this weekend.

Good freaking stuff. They really seem to know what moment to pick to end each episode, huh? I’m riveted at the end of each episode (which was how we ended up watching all 5 episodes in one night). I love all the wolves as well. They are AWESOME.

Have to say, kind of enjoy the gory stuff - though the most recent episode where we meet Catelyn’s sister? That whole scene disturbed me far more than any other gory scenes on the show.

I appreciate the male nudity to go along with the far more frequent female nudity, which generally is my complaint in regards to shows like Boardwalk Empire which frequently features female nudity but I don’t think we’d ever saw a peeper in the entire season. So, yay for flopping breasts AND peepers.

My favorite characters so far is unsurprisingly Tyrion (who is simply excellent with any other character in any scene. I love him with Snow, love him with Catelyn, etc. He’s not going to die soon, is he?), and of course little Aria. I really, really hope neither character will die any time soon.

I do find the twins incest to be icky though. I wonder how that happened - like were they already together before they overturned the mad king and Cersei got married to Robert, or was it afterward? Her kids are all very blonde, which…makes me wonder if any of them are Robert’s at all…and maybe the exHand Aryn(?) knew about it, (and that’s the reason he was tracking down Robert’s other bastard children, because those are actually his) which was why he was murdered.

Anyway, never mind. I was going to read the books, then decided since the show’s already airing, I want to experience the show as a newbie. (I’ll read the book - or books, if I get addicted and can’t stop - after S1 ends).

I couldn’t tell if their culture considered it taboo. Obviously the Lannisters want to keep it quiet because she is the Queen. I’ve only started the first book and it explains that the Targaryen have no problem with incest. In fact they consider it keeping the bloodlines pure.

We’ve heard the stories of royal incestuous relationships and I’ve always wondered about that. If these were the educated folks, they should know of the danger of such a union. Why would it be so common? If you think about it, most of these royal folk live secluded lives. They are brought up to believe they are literally special from everyone else. Everyone around you is considered lesser. They don’t want to be touched by others, let alone have intimate relations with them. Makes sense that you would only be attracted to people like you.

That certainly makes the first scene where we meet Viserys and Daenerys much more icky than it already was! (random: I love her line (paraphrase) “The next time you hit me will be the last time you have hands.”)

But thanks. I guess it does make sense that in this particular time (and alternate world too) incest is probably not a huge deal (though cheating obviously is, but Robert seems to know - if he makes Jaime stand guard while he demeans Cersei with the orgies and whatnots). But it’s just so…Flowers in the Attic.

What I did find interesting is that Jon Snow is considered a bastard child because his mother is not Catelyn - it’s sort of a nice spin because generally, having a different mother isn’t so bad for a child as long as the father likes the child. But here, it’s firmly established that Snow has no future (other than to go to The Wall and be a part of that army), despite Ned being his dad.

Oh, and love Littlefinger Calcutti. His little ‘duel’ with Varys (? the bald guy) was hilarious. All the characters are written so well so far.

OK, a little background on the incest thing. I’m marking it as a spoiler, but it really is just background info you’d have gotten at this point in the book.
The former dynasty, the Targaryens, are from a foreign culture originally (they conquered and united the seven kingdoms.) They practiced incest to keep the line pure. It’s taboo for everyone else in Westeros, whether they worship the old gods or the new. Dany and Viserys are both Targaryens, hence their distinctive look (in the book it’s even more distinctive) and Viserys’ familiarity with his sister.

The Lannisters, including the twins, nominally hold to the new gods. Jaime and Cersei are just into each other in a rather narcissitic way.
