A Game of Thrones (HBO)

No, no, no! Jaimie was wearing his gold armor that day…

I think it’s the thoughtful pose he’s striking. Really makes the shot somehow.

I was so excited about the preview, especially when I got to see Arya. I was worried about how they would portray her because she’s my favorite character in the series and seeing her in the preview I’m a lot less worried about how she will be portrayed. Cannot wait until April 17th and until I can order my Win or Die shirt on the 15th, already have my Targaryen shirt (just wish they’d put the Stark shirt on black instead of white so I can buy it).

I am looking forward to GOT as much as the next non-HBO subscriber who will have to work out an elaborate plot to watch as it airs, but I have to say, the armor that GRRM described throughout the first book (as far as I have yet read) was really silly. Every time I read a description of a gigantic heavy animal head-helmet I thought about how, even in a jousting match, no one would want to risk being thrown off kilter by the uncomfortable change in center of gravity.

Complaint over, back to drooling and plotting how to watch. I am really excited for the premiere.

Starbuckineer (sorry if I misspelled it),
My boss told me the other day, that he will call up and subscribe to hbo when there is something he wants to watch and then unsubscribe when he is done and it only cost him like $0.30 to have it for that couple of hours but I think he has Time Warner and he is a digi-subscriber.
Just a little food for thought.

Found this on i9
Thought it was a kick in the nuts to lost. No offense all you peops who love Lost.
But it is good for the people who are fans of Game of thrones!

Gods, the media is playing this up. Here’s the original article.

I actually find it hilarious because GRRM is not afraid to speak his mind on things, and outside of his Not A Blog he’s not that big into social networking so it’s kinda hard for him to keep up w/ how his comments are taken by the public. I’ve seen him make similar comments about Star Wars not being real sci-fi (which I kind of agree with even though I’m a die hard SW fan) and ragging on the NFL and the NFLPA when the lockout started.

Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, but him using “doing a Lost” for “jumping the shark” is too disrespectful to the series and he can put that comment elsewhere (I’m using the most friendly version of what I wanted to say)!

On a more happier note, the BTS-Special that aired yesterday is on Youtube:

Oh my, IBIMB!!

I haven’t seen Lost so I don’t know if I agree with his comments but I’ve seen other people say far worse things about other shows. To me it seemed he was a fan of the show who was disappointed in how the show ended and used his own feelings on the ending as a reference for how he did not want his readers to feel. But my view may be colored by the fact that I didn’t watch the show so I don’t have any personal feelings on the ending. He could have just as easily used BSG, which I know he watched, and I might have interpreted it differently. Honestly I think GRRM is lucky with this so called “feud” because if the Potter fandom ever got wind of some his comments/feelings on that book series and it’s author there would be an even bigger hubbub than his Lost comments have generated.

On another note, that picture is hot. I wasn’t sure they’d put that in the show but I can’t wait to see it.

Oh nice. At first it seems like a rehash of earlier promos, but they get into some new stuff in the back half.

OK, I have officially decided that I am a complete idiot. :frowning:

I’ve been seeing all the hype and everything for Game of Thrones coming up so I thought I’d pick it up and read it before the series came out. I get a chapter or two in before going “Man, this sounds really familiar.” Then it registered on me.

Game of Thrones is the first book of Song of Ice and Fire.

Somehow or another I had completely lost that connection. Somehow I had thought Game of Thrones was a new series set in the same universe as (or one a lot like the one in) Song of Ice and Fire.

I dunno how I lost that. Must be senility setting in.

It’ll get more confusing when they go to season two, and are doing A Clash of Kings under the title Game of Thrones.

The media might play this topic bigger than it should be.
Although Damon’s responses in that article are IMO totally understandable and even respectful against GRRM who didn’t liked the ending. Also Damon can and should defend his artistic creation and I do believe that many of his tweets against GRRM should be taken with a grain of salt. First GRRM has to prove how he will end A Song of Fire and Ice and then we can discuss how difficult it really is to end a multi-faceted book/TV series. And even it he can wrap up all the threads, there will always be people who expected something different or felt like something got left open.

Uhh yeah!

GRRM interviewed outside one of the promo foodtrucks.

So, I just watched the promo and Sean Bean is in this. Wow!

Does his character die? Curious cuz Sean Bean dies in everything.

GWC is a spoiler free website.

But the novel’s been out since…oh alright.

This is the HBO GOT thread, though. It has yet to debut.

If you want to pose that question in the AGOT thread, you’ll get your answer.
