I think Nana Visitor and Terry Farrel are extremely foine looking girls, but they didn’t display them in tights and try to shock and awe viewers with T and A (though when they do make them sexy, they are totally sexy).

According to the Voyager book:

The thing is they didn’t have an awesome vision of how a borg crew member can evolve, they casted of Jeri because they were looking for a babe.

Interesting. So maybe Berman wasn’t being totally honest in today’s interview on StarTrek.com.

Would Seven of Nine have been such a splash purely based on her character developement if they casted someone less of a bombshell, or didn’t put Jeri Ryan in ridiculous tights? Well, we will never find out, because the producers were just looking to have a Borg Babe.

If they wanted a de-Borg-ified character they could have had Kes captured by the Borg. Thrown in some time warp plot where Kes lives 40 years as a Borg, assimilating, etc. Her Borg nano-thingys are able to extend her life. Then, the time warp anomaly or Borg Queen or something brings her back to the Voyager crew and she is rescued but scarred by the experience.

She doesn’t remember Voyager since it was so long ago. She would in essence a totally new character.
