#254: Animation Arc, Part II

I love love love The Secret of NIMH - my brother & I tended to choose a movie & watch it a million times, and this was one of my chosen few. So beautiful, and such a great story (loved the book too).

Justin the noble rat was one of those cartoon characters I had a fictional-animal crush on, like the Disney fox Robin Hood.

Holy Mother of Crom! How did I miss this movie?
Thanks for the scoop, adanagirl!

Hope you enjoy it!!

No problem. I found it at Best Buy w/ the Disney movies. The next one I want to get is the doc about the Sherman Brothers.

When Audra mentioned the homosexual imagery in Walt Whitman’s poetry, I could not help but think of Maurice Minnifield learning that Whitman was gay on Northern Exposure. The look on Maurice’s face is priceless:

lol

one of the great things about Walt Whitman is that he was as sexually adventurous as Casanova but had the body of a longshoreman.

Thanks for taking me back to a wonderful book from my youth. Your discussion brought back fond memories but for the life of me I don’t remember the movie. My daughter and I will be at the library later today to check out the book. The movie has already been added to the NetFlix queue.

I was prompted to join the forum after enjoying your podcasts. I appreciate all of your efforts and keep up the great work.

Welcome to the forum Max! I’m sure you and your daughter will both enjoy the book and the movie.

Welcome aboard, Max!

I was thinking of that episode when I listened to the podcast as well.

LOL! So does the hub! He could never work in a shoe store- he’d get arrested!

Hi-hi-hi-hi-HI Cock-a-lor-um!

I LOVED that movie! Found a couple of the children’s books at a garage sale and my daughter loved them!

Ditto! LOL!

yaay
ok due to my driving schedule i only get to listen to the casts every other week, but I’ve carefully read through the 6 pages of posts and rtealise i’m probably the only one to get the electric boogaloo refernce, - follow up to the original breakdance movie, while not as influential asw that, it still helped chart the development of what has become house, rap, hip hop, trip hop electro and general dance music, it all began here people I can remeber my brother with a bit of linolium anf some furniture polish doing backspins in the 80’s

Crue, please tell me I got this one right, else I Shal be crush-ed
