Oh yeah, I eagerly watched it too. But having seen it recently, I have to say that it just doesn’t hold up as well as the others of that era. Except maybe Galactica:1980.
I’ll gonna give the LR TV series a look. I’m thinking I’ll have the same reaction watching it now.
You may have some difficulty finding it. There’s a reason for that.
That’s why You Tube is a gift from the gods. 1st episode is there at least.
Chuck the game you’re talking about is Professor Layton
As for the Munsters… I just don’t get it, they already tried a ‘newer’ version decades ago and it was not exactly a hit IYKWIM, so I do not understand the reasoning for another round of it. Here is an IMDB link to the 88 series-
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094518/
As a kid I found the original series only mildly interesting, there were only a couple of things I really liked and they got very little screen time. One) Spot. Two) Their pimped out rides, which were designed by George Barris (who also designed the ‘66’ Batmobile). Here is a link to the cars-

Like many others I found the Addams Family much more excentric and entertaining.
The Pushing Daisies dude is gonna do the new Munsters, so visually, it should be better than The Munsters Today…
And it’ll last 1 season badumpsh
Actually, the Myst book series has quite a bit of plot and characters and tells the story what happened to the once-thriving D’ni civilization. I highly recommend giving those a read
OK The Island is not a remake of Logan’s Run! ARRRGGHHHH The Island is a remake of Parts: The Clonus Horror - it is literally a scene for scene of Clonus. Really guys, Logan’s and The Island really have nothing to do with each other outside of both depicting dystopian societies. It’s like saying The Island is a remake of 1984 or Brave New World, or Farenheight 451.
Granted Logan’s Run is nowhere near as good as the book, it’s an interesting film, also Box had nothing to do with the food chain of the Dome. The dome is self sufficient with automated hydroponics etc.
Box was part of the previous society, the frozen Runners just a by product of his programming.
Totally agree. The game of Myst had the coolest, creepy atmosphere and music. surprised bkitty hasn’t commented since she lived for that game
Re: Star Wars in 3D, it’s been in discussion since after the Special Editions came out and been worked on for the better part of a decade. Hell, at last year’s Fan Days, Steve Sansweet even said that unless they got it looking better than they currently had it, don’t anyone hold their breath–so I’m guessing they had some kind of a breakthrough. Given that, I’m looking forward to it and I’m especially looking forward to having more movies to go to at midnight in costume again.
So I’ve held kind of a grudge against the Halo games since about 2005. Another game I really liked at the time got compared (unfairly in my opinion) to Halo and I had an automatic bristle reaction to it for years. My husband started getting into the games over the past couple of years, and I had to admit that the soundtracks were good, the voice cameos were good, etc. I’m now only slightly ashamed to admit that I cried at the end of Halo: Reach.
Also, I now want to go home and watch the Addams Family movies. The second one was one of my favorite movies growing up, and it blew my mind to realize that Harmony from Buffy was in them. And that Christopher Lloyd was Fester.
Okay…about the fish. Sean mentioned in the podcast that all the fish and algae died in the city fishtanks since there was no one left that knew how to take care of them. I know there are many inconsistencies in the Logan’s Run film, but didn’t the “Old Man” mention that he saw all the fish die off? Or was I just imagining him saying that?

I haven’t seen it recently enough (it’s been about a year) to be sure, but if so the Old Man would have been referring to fish “from the sea!” (Box’s domain) rather than The City’s (farm raised) fish.
Box’s quote (with my emphasis):
Fish, and plankton. And sea greens, and protein from the sea. It’s all here, ready. Fresh as harvest day. Fish and sea greens, plankton and protein from the sea. And then it stopped coming. And they came instead. So I store them here. I’m ready. And you’re ready. It’s my job. To freeze you. Protein, plankton…
I don’t recall anything about The City’s fish dying. Maybe he was inferring that from the empty tanks they were diving through?
While we’re on it, I don’t think the Cathedral brats were re-integratted into The City. It’s an interesting interpretation of Logan’s:
No Cubs over 15, Billy! Look, have you ever seen a Cub that’s gone to green? You’ll have to leave Cathedral then, Billy, because they won’t let you stay here. And if you do try to stay here, Billy, your young friends here will rip your guts apart!
I take that to mean that if you go green the others will kill you, unless you run.
Yet another parallel with the larger society. In The City you get to go red. In the Citadel, you’re dead at green. Or a runner (see above.)
I have to say, the more I debate this stuff, the more respect I have for the movie version. There’s a lot of clever in there.
ETA: Ah, I think I found the exchange that prompted Sean’s line of reasoning:
(In the Citadel)
Jessica 6: Where do you live Mary?
Mary 2: Here.
Jessica 6: Why aren’t you in nursery?
Mary 2: I’m very smart.
Jessica 6: When are you green? When do you go up?
Mary 2: I never go upstairs. You’re a nice old lady.
[She steals Jessica 6’s bracelet and runs away]
I think that “When do you go up?” is just an alternate way of expressing the same thing as “When are you green?” and Mary 2 misinterprets it. But you can certainly read it differently.
So to go off topic for a moment, there was mention of getting the Bad Astronomer on the show.
DO EET! DO EET NOW!
He’s a great speaker and gets interviewed on a lot of podcasts. With some of the great people you have interviewed, you should be able to get Phil Platt also.
Just sayin’.
Okay, I haven’t found the time to comment here of late but did Audra really just say, “[Lucas] knows better than to ruin the Star Wars franchise name”???
What Phil said. Intent and action can have two different results.
Ah, Myst.
You guys brought up some great memories. Like everybody else at that time, I bought the game, but after some initial frustration (which even my 12 year old else could not handle), I bought the hint guide. Even with cheating I still never got to two of the worlds.
But, after hearing a friend of mine and more looking through the hint book, I realized you could beat the game in five minutes. Which I did, and Sean was right…the ending was not worth it.
But, as AndrewPenick said, the books, especially two and three, were pretty damn awesome.
Well Phil Plait has left a comment on the blog for 'cast #239 for the Crue to contact him…so maybe it will happen! Fingers and toes crossed!
