BTW, if you tried to download 229 and got 228, try redownloading it - my bad!

Juan, you are the AWESOME for taking care of this while the crew is busy doing other things. I think everyone is gonna let this one slip. =)

Yay Juan, thanks for the hookup man.

Great lil fun episode. Enjoyed hearing calls again you guys  Pitch Black discussion was fun, gave and interesting spin on things. Oh and btw sooo jealous of guys going to comic con.

Thanks for the podcast

There can be only JUAN!!!

Thanks homie!!

Thanks indeed, Juan. We really appreciate you getting the cast out while we’re at SDCC.

I’m in Hall H right now stalking the Paul, Thor/Cpt America, and Kevin Smith panels. Awesome morning, too, checking out a way-too-short Chuck panel. Bonus; Got to hear Seth McFarlane sing live. Ever wonder why that guy’s a kajillionaire? Now you know.

Looks for some awesome post-'con material next week.

Looking forward to hearing the 'cast as riddick is my fav character - and like sean , would kill to have that sort of physique…

I will get that look and dress up at holloween

Good cast - left a message on the phone line…Sean kinda messed up the entire history of Star Crusier Yamato there…

Of that I have no doubt. Space Battleship Yamato is one of those shows that has undergone a bunch of heavy mods as it gets translated. It depends greatly on which version you saw as to what it is called for instance:

Space Battleship Yamato - Org. Japenese version,
Space Cruiser Yamato - English version
Star Blazers - English version (alt)
Star Patrol - South American version

I haven’t heard of Star Crusier Yamato though, is that another version? There are quite a few of them now days and I often can’t keep up.

My favorite ‘popular beef topic’ with this show has got to be the whole cruiser vs. battleship thing though. Folks stand in one camp or another pretty firmly. It’s actaully fairly interesting to hear what line people take on that and why. Personally, I’m a Battleship guy myself.

Either way, I look forward to hearing the call.

Rock on.

Star Cruiser Yamato is just another translation of the Japanese.

By the time the first season of Yamato was shown here, it had already completed it’s three season arc in Japan. The original was actually not that heavily modified when shown outside Japan, the first season shown in the US only missing two scenes - a history of the Yamato during WW2, and a short scene of Nova nude during the first space warp.

I’ve seen the South American and Italian versions as well, and the story remains pretty constant. Robotech on the other hand is completely American, the story created by editting and new voice work, as it is a mash up of three unrelated Anime shows from Japan, one of which was done by the folks who gave us Yamato!

Some Starblazers talk in #229? Cool! I haven’t gotten that far yet but can’t wait now!

Sean mention Riddick as a Trilogy.
If I remember Diesel is still trying to get the last one produce. It was rumor to be is next project after XXX3.

Seem it has disappear from IMDB so I don’t know what is the state of the project BUT a script exist somewhere!!!

Just that is exiting enough.
If you haven’t play ‘escape from butcher bay’ you should, and you can even get it for like 10 bucks in your local bin

Get Assualt on dark athena (it contains the updated version of Butcher Bay).

I believe that his eyeshine is inherent (as in all alpha fruyans have it) and it was triggered by Sirah and not the operation (as Sirah does mention that his memory is faulty.

The other theory is that it is both (other people had eyeshines in prision) so mixed with his natural abilities, he might have aquired it that way.

I see the Jack/Krya and Riddick as a brother sister relationship. Jack ran away from home as a child, so I’m assuming that her family life was not that great. Therefore, she saw a strong male remodel in her life and Riddick’s life interested her.

Trivia about the casting of judi dench in CoR

To attract Dench to the role, Diesel flew to London to watch her perform onstage, and filled her dressing room with flowers. She agreed to read the The Chronicles of Riddick script and was “terribly flattered that somebody of Vin’s age wanted me to be in his picture.” She had, of course, already scored some `street credibility’ as James Bond’s boss, M, in the most recent incarnations of that venerable series, but Dench freely admits, “I’ve never done a film like this and never one of this magnificent scale.”

Information about games coming out from Tigon Studios

Secret Service
A game that has been announced on the Tigon Studios website. Secret Service seeks to put the player in the position of a member of the United States Secret Service. The game is a collaboration between Tigon Studios, Director Bryan Singer and Mark Feigin and probably will star Vin Diesel.

Melkor
A game that appears to be based on one of Vin Diesel’s Dungeons & Dragons characters, Melkor. Melkor is a fantasy “epic” that has been scheduled to be a series of games. According to the website, Melkor’s game-style is influenced by “Dungeons & Dragons, Conan and Lord of the Rings”.

Question - If I want to phone in, what’ the deadline?

Sorry about the post - like sean, love the riddick character…hey…what can you do

Also on an unrelated note - Best Buy

They have a few shops in england (Birmingham I think) - Went to one the other day, I have to say that I was very impressed. Saw the IPAD, the variety of 3D Tv’s and I like the fact that each tv had its feed sourced correctly. I was very impressed with the shop. Might have to go back -

Sean - got any spare gift cards laying around???

The 3rd film for Riddick is animated called The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury.

I think Dungeons & Dragons should pay tribute to Vin Diesel and make “Vin Diesel” a creature you have to fight in the game.

I would say that Dark fury is the 2nd as I believe it explains what happens after they escape from the ‘Pitch Black’ planet. It also describes the development of Jack and why Riddick is a tad worried about her (in his own Riddick way) and why he leaves her with Imman on New Mecca.

I believe the timeline is:

Escape from Butcher bay (VG)
Assault on Dark Athena (VG)
Pitch Black
Dark Fury
Chronicles of Riddick
<Proposed Third Movie>

This is my theory, so if I am wrong, just send the abuse and flame to the usual email address of chuck AT galacticwatercooler DOT com

According to the Riddick Wiki, there were rumours that there was going to be episodes/cartoon/etc centered around Jack/Kyra’s development.

It’s also interesting to know that Riddick was trained to be a killer when he worked as a ranger in the military. There’s further info on the Wiki on how he tried to do the right thing but was sent to a slam. And as they say…the rest is history…

Caroline dying - I like to think that he really didn’t want anyone doing anything for him and having his best interests at heart, so when he said ‘Not for me’ when Caroline died, that hit him pretty hard.

I also like to think that he had a love/hate relationship with Johns, Johns was the best at what he did, just like Riddick…It’s just that Riddick was better.

You’re prolly right Bishop…I was just pointing Nightwing to the one he didn’t know about. I don’t know the chronological order of them other than what Sean said on the 'cast. But thanks for the extra info!

I saw Dark Fury and it’s awesome. ( bought a DVD set with the 3 movies for like 10$)
There is still a 3rd script out there http://screenrant.com/chronicles-of-riddick-3-dead-man-stalking-title-script-story-rob-53790/
But production report seem to go everywhere.
Script is called Chronicle of Riddick : dead man stalking.
I just hope we are gonna see it one day

#1: Calling it now: while Meg will be the Sarlac, “the pit” everyone gets tossed into wont be her mouth…

#2: In the case of an artist having the right to recreate or rework their art, I don’t think George Lucas has that right. From everything that’s been done with the prequels, how badly they mangled the whole Star Wars mythology, I think the case could be made that the first three movies were the result of a composite artist. That their sole “artist” probably died as the movies became more popular and Lucas’s commercialist drive along with his ego grew, took over and killed it.
