So say some of us! (Myself included.) But, I’ll tell you CCB - get ready for a # of those big theme questions to get put off until “The Plan”.
I can live with that, as long as it delivers. Something to look forward to. I don’t “jade” easily.
And me. It’s only fair for the writers to answer questions that they themselves have set up, the ones that drew me into the show in the first place, after investing (emotionally and monetarily) in the show. I’ll be a bit upset if I have to wait for The Plan; but I will at this point, if that’s what it takes.
I wouldn’t mind letting “The Plan” take care of some structural story work so the finale is pure fun and drama.
Yah, bring on the fun and drama. Give us 2-hrs of the best that BSG is. Whatever the outcome, it should be memorable.
I actually have final theory now, as simple as it is, inspired by what happened in the penultimate episode (especially with Baltar staying behind):
People on the starboard side of the line fight Cavil, last stand style, Galactica and some major people die, and the remainder get directions to a habitable world from whatever force is behind the Head People. We don’t get to see exactly where they get to.
And what happens to the rest of the fleet? All we get is a line about how they’ll try to jump to look for a habitable world. And the last shot of the series should be head!Six in modern day New York, giving us the hint that maybe the ragtag fleet (sans most of the characters we know) ended up at Earth in the past.
My main thought, and I said this two episodes ago, is that Adama will decide to go after Hera. He will take volunteers, and they will use the dying Battle Star.
Somehow they are going to fly her into the heart of the Cylon colony. The rescue squads are going to go in for Hera, and escape in raptors / vipers. Sam will be the driver, and unable to leave. Starbuck will stay with him, and they will “jump” from within the base ship. No idea if they make it, but I think the resulting use of the FTL in the heart of the colony will if not destroy it, but cripple it. Now that we know the colony rests next to a singularity it will be unable to escape the pull of the gravity well in its crippled state, and quickly bring about the destruction of the evil cylons. Kara then fulfills her part of the prophecy, becoming the bringer of death.
My only other thought is that Baltar is going to agree to come along, very likely he will see the equation that Kara has been working on, and using his Baltar brain, instantly figure it out. It will be something important, and maybe that is what will redeem Baltar. Maybe its coordinates, and he will be able to take the survivors there.
I have faith that RDM will give us something we will remember, and realize the week of waiting will be far too long.
What are they going to do with all the Dorals? They were pretty nasty down on New Caprica.
The Simons would be useful, but the Dorals?
Best run that last thought by Doc Cottle.
I guess I get to pull out my hair until “The Plan”.
You are a lucky man to have hair to pull out. The gods bless us in strange ways.
Ok, that was funny!
I am giving the ending a little faith. I need to beleive that the whole “You will know the truth” tag means something.
What ever happens I feel that Kara and Sam will end up together, If that means in death or in life I do not know.
The really big question that needs to be explained is who is guiding them.
Not sure about Kobol (Didn’t it’s star go super nova?) but I agree about the colonies. In our real life history the US spent years testing nukes not just to make them larger, but also cleaner. Hiroshima and Nagasaki have been radioactive for a long time because of the fact that the weapons used on them were the first of their kind, maybe the weapons used on the BSG earth were also early predecessors of the nukes we now see in the series. We saw earlier in the series that their was Cylon occupations on the colonies, and I believe that has been the main reason they couldn’t return. With Cavil out of the way and most of the remaining Cylons allies they might be able to return. We’ve seen a Cylon tylium refinary before and at that point humans might have free access to Cylon resources. I think the Cylon rebels could easily ally with the remaining Cylon raiders and Centurions as they did when the rebels started to feud with Cavil and crew and disabled the neural inhibitors (?) on the non human models.
On other subjects (These are mostly just shots in the dark):
Starbuck: Didn’t things start getting weird after New Caprica when Leoben held her captive and convinced her they manufactured her a daughter? Maybe that was a ploy to distract her from why the Cylons were actually keeping her. In razor they touched on how the Cylons captured humans for studies. Sure, the name “Harbinger of Death” was shot out before New Caprica but Cylons seem to be patient with their plans and Hybrids won’t shut their mouth either.
Opera House: I can’t help but think that it’s there to help clue us in on the ending. “It is prophesied by the rebel’s Hybrid that the ‘dying leader shall know the truth of the Opera House’” – Battlestar Wiki. Sure sounds like Roslin is going to get offed to me. Also, why does Six of all charecters carry Hera out of the opera house? Six just lost her daughter. Is Sharon left with Roslin to die and Six gets her second chance at motherhood? I do seem to remember Six telling Baltar about Hera being “their child” in visions if I’m not mistaken. It also seems significant to me that both Baltar and Six (the one in his head) both preach the One God. Maybe the term “child” is in regards to faith? Is the One God the answer to survive?
Final Chapter in Humanity: I don’t humanity has to die (at least how we expect it to) to end. I think it might be just has to do with the question “what makes us human?”. Maybe we lose our humanity. Maybe we do this by breeding with the Cylons and becoming hybrids like Hera… who knows.
Will all the questions be answered?: No, I think that BSG has been written so that once it is all over we have things that we can still interpret and figure out ourselves by re watching it… I don’t think they are going to make it all easy for us and give us all the answers. Or… they might just write some more books.
There isn’t that much. I’ve got 2 more inches of forhead than I did in High School.
So which Gaius will the show end with:
Gauis Julius Caesar Germanicus - aka Caligula
or
Gaius Julius Caeser Octavanius Augustus - aka the First Roman Emperor
No, that was the algae planet. If the human’s return to Kobol they will “pay the price in blood.”
I believe the names are an homage of sorts to the original Gaius Julius Caesar.
Gaius Ididus One Good Deedus - and it got me killed.
I prefer No More Mister Nice Gaius, myself.
