I’m sure it’s not a coincidence. The similarity in ideology is notable.
Of course, it may not be entirely intentional. Whenever costume designers are told to do “evil and militaristic”, they bust out the buckles, tight lines and shoulder pads. They always end up looking Nazi, intentional or not.
