Oh boy talk about setting 'em up.
Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan—There isn’t any movie in my lifetime that I’ve watched more times that one. I know every scene, every line, every molecule.
“Prepare to recieve our transmission”. Zzzzzaappppp (Enterprise phaser sound).
and at Spock’s death scene, I cry every single time.
I can’t watch it without my heart sinking to my feet when Scotty says “He’s dead already”. I remember being pretty damn shocked when I first saw the movie that they had actually killed off Spock.
sometimes I think I’ll make it through the scene without crying. then Spock stands up and straightens his uniform jacket
Me too. Nicholas Meyer captured a magical moment there.
Absolutely. In a way, it’s a shame that Spock came back – that was about the most perfect theatrical death I’ve seen.
The only other death scene that has affected me so was, of all things, the end of a live production of the Gilbert & Sullivan comic opera The Yeomen of the Guard. The actor playing Jack Point chose to play his “falling insensible” at the end very straight, as a real death scene, and lay on the ground, immobile, even during the curtain call. It was really surprisingly sad, it being Gilbert and Sullivan and all, y’know.
I once ran a Toon role-playing game based on Wrath of Kahn, only staring Ren from Ren and Stempy playing Kahn.
Everything Kahn says is hysterical when said in Ren-voice.
That sounds hilarious. Although, I could imagine Ren yelling the infamous KHAUN!!! line.
“Frommmm the peeeeeeeeet of darknessssssssssssss I stab at theeeeeeeeee!”
LOL You’re right that works too.
its the bag pipes!!! sets the mood!!
