Wireless Printer Suggestions

Mrs. Shooter finally “convinced” me that we need a new Wireless Printer/Scanner. I would like to do it as cheaply as possible, have network compatbility to Windows 7, and have ink replacement cartridges that won’t bankrupt me.

Any suggestions and/or websites you could point me to?

THANKS!

My parents and sister each have HP Photosmart wireless printers. It doesn’t like to play nice with my parents’ mac, but my sis hasn’t had any problems. I only mention it because my sis picked hers up at Costco for right around $100.

After doing some research on www.printercomparison.com within the same class of printer (wireless all-in-one $150 to $200 range) plus doing some online shopping comparisons, I’m leaning towards the Kodak ESP 9250. The scanner doesn’t seem to be the best in it’s class, and the Cannons definitely have the highest quality prints (followed closely by HP), but the price is very appealing.

The replacement cartridges for the Kodak are some of the lowest in the market. The Kodak brand is about half that of my current HP 6110 all-in-one, and they are also about half price to the comparible Cannon model (PIXMA870). Even though the Kodak cartridges don’t last as long as the other printers, I think you still come out ahead since you can buy two or more replacements for the price of one set for some of the others (HP, Cannon, Epson).

I have no idea if the guy(s) at www.printercomparison.com are biased or are pai by a particular brand, but it seemed to me that they were pretty impartial.

I think as long as Mrs. Shooter is happy and doesn’t have to slurg for $80 ink cartridges when they run out, I’ll think she will be happy with the Kodak one.

I’m still open for recommendations, though.

Mrs. Shooter and I swung by Best Buy today on the way home. I fully intended to pickup the Kodak ESP 9250 (and did), but took some time with the salemen since the Epson Workforce 610 was on sale for $129 (this was a STEAL - regularly $199). The Espon $129 price is NOT reflected on the Best Buy website, but they are STACKED in the store.

I still went with the Kodak because of the ink cartridge costs. The Epson uses one black and three color cartridges. Each of the four cartridges are slightly more expensive than the Kodak’s 2 cartridges.

However, if you are in the market for a wireless all-in-one printer, either of these two are a great buy.

I’ll let you know how the installation goes either later tonight or tomorrow.
