As I can tell, there hasn’t much talk in this section about any Wii games. I’ve never owned a console that isn’t made by Nintendo so I admit I’m biased, but doesn’t anyone here have a Wii, if only for the kids? My favorite game is still Super Mario Galaxy, but there are also some good ones I’ve enjoyed like Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime, and World of Goo (for Wiiware).
i own a WiI and i have to say i feel that outher then computer this system is great gor shooters. i have resident evil 4 and godfather black hand edition. and lemme tell ya their is nothing like chokeing the crap outta a guy on wii after a hard day.
my wife enjoys the newest harvest moon game. she allso plays some nights game it look interesting she just got it so i havent been able to try it yet. I actully own all 3 new systems and they each have their plus’s but i feel the Wii is best for large groups of people. and like i said that shooters are amazin gon their the new metroid game the outher M is due to come out this year and it seems that one will be a bit more hand to hand combat oriented. the new mario games will allso be landing this year.
well simply put i could go on for awhile like this go to your nearest game store and just look around. beware shovelware but all the systems have that in spades. i played conduit at a friends house and that seemed good. i will say tho i think my wife spends more time on it then i do. but its allways awsume to get your wife involved.
over all i would say that the Wii really is a family gameing platform and should be thought of like that but it does have stuff for the serious gamer.
-ELSE
I love Wii and it bothers me when people rip on it… I personally am not a fan of first person shooters, so most of the ‘good’ games don’t really appeal to me (on any system).
That said - I don’t play a lot, but what I do play, I love. I’ll echo Em’s Super Mario Galaxy recommendation (though I do wish the 2nd player could be Luigi rather than a glorified star collector). We also have a Wii Fit and are quite fond of it. The different Wii Sports games are great for parties.
I also play the LEGO games (even though I have them for the PS2 also, they’re fun!). And my favorite of all time is MarioKart - for me, it’s worth the entire system to have MarioKart!
I’ll report back as other games occur to me.
My daughter is getting MarioKart for her birthday.
I’ve mentioned elsewhere but I love LEGO Star Wars. Spent many a night playing that. All three saved slots are at 100% if that tells you anything. Time to get an SD card.
Star Wars is my favorite of the LEGO games. I’m currently going through it for Wii, since I beat both I and II for PS2 awhile ago. It’s still super fun, even if spouse rolls his eyes while playing WOW
I’ve had my Wii for a while now, and would safely say that Metroid was the best game I have played on it. I find the trouble is that outside of the Sports games that came with it I don’t find a real need to fire it up besides occasionally going to, “Check Mii Out” to see what creativity is out there.
I got a Wii last Christmas and I love it. The game I play the most on it is Rock Band 2, well at least until my guitar broke. I do love the first person shooters on it. I have Far Cry 2. The fps controls on the Wii take some getting use to. I too have a Wii Fit like Casilda and use it quite often
Me too, though I know you can get RB2 for pretty much any console these days!
True, RB2 is on any console. I got the Wii for all the family games on the console.
silly comment but look into the Wii downloadable content their is some awsume new stuff and even a ton of old games on there. its better then dragging out the old NES or SNES.
Yeah, I’ve been eying the classic Mario games…
And as I type, spouse is playing Street Fighter 2.
I own a Wii and while I greatly prefer PC games, the Wii is a whole lotta fun when it does what it does right. There is a lot of dreck out there so I advise staying away from the bargain bin unless you have done your homework.
Some people bash on the Wii for being and doing exactly what it said it would be or do. It is a gaming system geared toward casual gamers and families. Many games are very social and most are simple yet fun. The library is full of safe for children titles and party/group games. It is also relatively cheap with limited (read safer) connections to the internet. The system is not as powerful as the others and limited in other ways, but Nintendo doesn’t pretend it is anything else.
My guilty pleasure is Endless Ocean. Glass of wine in one hand, Wiimote in the other and beautiful music throughout. Swim, pet fish, swim. Ahhhhhhh. I am sooooo relaxed… I’m not sure it’s a “guy” game though. Every man and boy I have explained the game to has the same two part reaction. Part 1: “Can you harpoon the fish?” and when I say no, nothing dies and nothing can get hurt, thereafter follows…Part 2: “What’s the point?” My DH calls it Endless Boredom, but I love it.
Other thoughts
–Recently I have noticed many ports of Mature games into the Wii
–If you buy Guitar Hero World Tour, the instruments will work on Rock Band 2 (but not the other way around). Many hours of family entertainment there.
–Twighlight Princess is entertaining. It is billed as an RPG. It is not an RPG. But it is fun.
–MaroKart bores me but pretty much every other family member and every person who walks through the door LOVES it.
–My kids and I enjoy the new Harvest Moon. I can’t really say why, but we are all hooked.
–My son likes Warioware. Mostly as an excuse to pick his nose, I thing.
–We also play Mario Galaxy, but we are all stuck.
–Wiiplay, Wii sports, racing games, etc. interesting short term fun with friends.
–PuzzleQuest is on a number of systems, I believe. It plays well on the Wii.
–I hate Dance Dance Revolution – but that’s a story for another day.
–Lego Star Wars on Wii? What’s not to love?
The list goes on and on.
I actully like to buy used games from game stop (its a natinal chain) that way if its drek i have 7 days to hand it back and say its drek i’ll betakeing my money back now. and they will happy let you get something else or your cash. its definatly worth it to get their membership it gives you 10% off all used games. and you get a magazine membership with it and the mag is pretty good i actully look forward to geting it.
Star Wars is my best one!!!
