It’s all about timing. (Did any of you pick up in another thread - I forget which, ahhh memory - on the fact that I met Henny Youngman at Trader Vic’s in Beverly Hills about 40 years ago? That’s where it all began, I think. Let me tell you the whole story…)
I know Gaeta has screwed up, but at least he has some reasons for becoming unhinged. Tory, on the other hand, is just a big, stupid, hotty mchott douche-face.
How Felix reacted to his own revealed guilt by his New Caprica 8 and how he reacts to the prospects of the fleets need (for it’s own survival) leads me to have lost all respect for him. While I understand the idea of “they are the enemy” in most situations, but with the known quantity of your survival is at risk you have to adjust. A good current event analogy is the leaders of Israel and Hamas at each other when the people they are supposedly fighting for have had enough and want it to stop. Just my two cents there.

I had to vote for Zarek. Man, he rolled so fast on Adama’s word that that folder had evidence of him “buying the Vice Presidency” that we know that it’s most likely true. Maybe they will finally find our Earth and land in the mid-west somewhere near Chicago. We’re going to need a new douche for Govenor here in Illinois soon…he’d fit right in.

I believe everyone else is at least trying to do what they think is right for the fleet. Tory is trying to do what is right for Tory and airlocking anyone else.
I know everyone is somewhat doing what is right for them, but I honestly think that Zarek, Gaeta, and Adama are all trying to do what is right for the fleet also.
Gaeta:
- Talking back in snotty 12 year old tone to the old man
- Sneering at Tigh every chance he gets
- His Cylonist attitude
- sneaking around causing sedition
- Snubbing poor Hoshi who only wants to love him
- turning into a bitter twisted cylon hating authority hating morpha addict
- being able to blank out memories of having sent people to their deaths on New Craaprica just so he could keep have sex with the 8
I can’t wait until Starbuck puts one right between his eyes.
And i can’t wait until Roslin and Adama wake up from their pity party and smell the coffee.
You make a good point about the fact that we as the audience know things and have been privy to things that the people in the fleet have not.
However - I have to say I don’t agree with your view of Gaeta and his motives. I don’t see Gaeta as being rational about this situation at all - I don’t think his motives are entirely pure - good of the people and all that. He’s obviously extremely angry and bitter and he DOES have direct knowledge of why the ships need the cylon FTL drives - he DOES have direct knowledge that not every cylon is actively working for the destruction of the human race - he’s worked alongside Athena for several years. Gaeta doesn’t get to use the “just explain yourself” excuse.

I was going to vote, but it occurred to me there is plenty of douche-baggery (this so warrants a sorrybarb) for the entire list: a reflection of the intense stress and disappointment of the last few years, of the horrible choices they have either made themselves or have witnessed and endured.
Blech. I’d like to think I’d do better.

Starbuck deserved to be on the list of choices even though she would not have been my choice as biggest douche. Cavill is the biggest douche. She deserves a douche nomination as much as Gaeta does.
Yeah, Gaeta was pretty nasty towards Starbuck last episode, but she was quick with the unrelenting mocking of his handicap. I remember that when Gaeta was on trial for collaborating, Starbuck sure did not give him any benefit of the doubt, she was quite eager to condemn him down the old airlock but only after insisting on seeing him beg her for mercy. Gaeta had previously tried to explain to Starbuck that he helped out the resistance, said that there was a dog bowl that was turned, she dismissed his story right away, wouldn’t even listen.
Now Gaeta has to believe Starbuck’s story: She comes back from the dead in a brand new viper. She says she has been to Earth and it’s beautiful. She associates with Cylons towards the discovery of said Earth and in the process Gaeta loses his leg to her husband’s gun. Hubby turns out to be a Cylon. Earth turns out to not be beautiful at all, it’s crap.
Also Starbuck has in the past been a big old douche towards Anders, towards Lee, towards Dee, towards Cat. She has a long history of douchery.

All along I have suggested ‘Head Six’ is simply a psychological manifestation of Baltar’s. Her nature changed as his own ideas, revelations, impressions, etc changed.
Once he thought he had found some ‘equilibrium’ being this messianic character and preaching his ‘you are all perfect’ crap, and ‘god loves you all’ BS, then he decided she was no longer needed.
But now his god has been found to have no clothes, now that it’s obvious we are not all perfect, and he has started railing against what he previously propounded, it is quite possible that he will once again need his internal support mechanism. ie, Head Six.

Gross abrogation of sought-after, and fought-after responsibility. And not even having the courage to resign with dignity.
Roslin’s vanity, ego, and now self-pity have driven and are still driving the fleet further along the path of ultimate despair and destruction. Her self-deluded and drug-addled visions created false hope among thousands, only to be dashed by the obvious harsh reality of Earth.
People talk of Zarek’s manipulation and political intrigues. Well, what about Roslin? She defrauded an entire election! For her own selfish and misguided desires. More than once she has divided the fleet, caused chaos and mayhem. Zarek is just a naughty schoolboy by comparison.
It’s my belief that Head Six will be used as a major plot point down the stretch.
Up 'til now we’ve been shown that religion is a major importance in the story. The crew of Galactica has found articles mentioned in their scripture. They have stood on Kobol. The arrow of Apollo revealed the constellations. At first I thot, sure in the time of the apocalypse people would seek some help from a “higher power”. They could even delude themselves to believe anything. But in the mythos of this show, in particular, the cylon hybrid made me think otherwise.
The discovery of scorched Earth destroyed the faith of everyone in the Galactica universe (human and cylon, alike). I don’t want to go so far as to say this is all part of a plan. But I think the writers have a statement they plan to make regarding the Head folk.
Head Six’ agenda has had two points which never involved Earth. Her first agenda has been Hera. The second is the colonial worship of the old gods. I can’t help but feel there is a reason for that and I think will be involved down the stretch.

She’s been strangely quite these last few episodes. Same time, Baltar’s actually been the voice of reason once or twice. Strange how that seems to work.
