Ok here is the premise. who is your favorite character who isn’t a staring cast member. You know the ones who’s names aren’t in the credits weekly. (Kirk, spock, mcoy, Sulu, Picard, data, Riker, troi, worf, Sisko, kira, Dax, Odo, Bashir , Janeway, Seven of 9, Paris, Archer, T’pol, etc… you get the idea.)
My favorite secondry character is … Garak. I really wanted to pick a few others, but it is Garak.
Enterprise - Shran. From the first moment we meet him he’s perfect.
DS9 - Garak. Malevolent and yet so urbane.
TNG - Gowron. A Klingon leader with creepy bug-eyes that make him look permanently insane.
Voyager - Hmmm. Does Reginald Barclay count? 
TOS - Khaaaaaan. 
Not so much a secondary character as a one-off villain, but c’mon!
I can’t decide… but Gowron’s ridges is what made him look insane.
Barclay for sure.

I agree. Whenever Shran was around I was interested in what was going on.
TOS - This is a tough one since they didn’t have secondary (or recurring) characters like the other shows. They had guest stars. In any case, I have to go with Sarek. Mark Lenard and Leonard Nimoy defined the Vulcan race beautifully.
TNG - Q - John de Lancie is hilarious.
DS9 - Martok, always represented what a true Klingon should be. He was a great role model for Worf.
Voyager - Barclay most definitely counts!!
John de Lancie does a fantastic job of taking a pretty weak idea and making it so fun you don’t care that it’s just another excuse to go holodecking with our favorite ST characters. It’s as if he has a doctorate in being puckish.
For TOS I have to say I liked Gary Mitchal
TNG I liked O brian ( we was secondary on that show)
DS9 i said Garak
Voyager- Seska… she hated the crew as much as me
for Enterprise: I have to say the Aquatic’s leader ! LOL psyke!!! Shran for sure

BTW, Sulu would count as a secondary character, and I suspect Paris would as well.

TOS - Scotty, he was just cool
TNG -Admiral Nechayev she was a great foil for Picard
DS9 - Garak, he was just a plain simple tailor
Voyager - whilst I could stare at 7of9 all day, I think the Doctor was my favorite character
Enterprise - Can I say the entire cast of the Mirror universe, aside from Spocks goatee I think this was the best use of the mirror universe.
ah… that’s it, my all time favorite secondary character is Dukat…
If Dukat is in the episode, it will be a great episode.
TNG i think my favorite is O’Brien…
VOY would have to be Chakotay, because he was sidelined pretty quickly, i think he is a secondary character. kidding aside… probably Daniel Kim in Blink of an Eye, Andy Dick as EMH Mk2 in Message in a Bottle, or Sarah Silverman in Future’s End.
TOS… I can’t believe Uhura isn’t a secondary character…
ENT… besides Archer, Trip and T’Pol wasn’t every one a secondary character?
secondary character was defined by me in the begginning of the thread as “other than the regular cast members”. So I know you all want to define cast members like Chakotay and Sulu as secondary in order to make a valid point… but I want to hear who your favorite non-cast members are. the Garaks, the Sela’s , the people that make me go out and look up the episodes your talking about and rewatch and enjoy. Maybe share in what you like about that character.
Sure Chacoty, Harry kim, the black guy on Enterprise ( that’s how
secondary he was) were sidlined…that’s as differnet conversation.

the issue with Voyager TOS and ENT is there aren’t many recurring secondary characters. About the only likable recurring character on ENT is Shran, but I don’t even really like Shran, even tho I love the actor. My favorite is the Vulcan embassador, who changed through out the series and by the last season became a great help tp the crew. But the only enjoyable episodes were in season 4.
The three i named for Voyager were all one episode guest stars. Daniel Kim played a brief role, where he came aboard Voyager only to discover the temporal difference meant he missed out on everyone he knew. Which i thought was awesome, and was the first time i saw him on TV.
Andy Dick as EMH Mk2 in Message in a Bottle is when Doctor went through the alien network, but ended up on a experimental ship hijaked by romulans. Where he met up with Andy Dick’s character and the two holo-docs managed to foil the romulans…
Sarah Silverman in Future’s End is just Sarah Silverman… without potty mouth, and extremely hot.
Its a tie between Luaxana Troi and Q.
TOS - Sarek (more at ease with being a Vulcan, than Spock)
TNG - Q, hands down. Best lines.
DS9 - Gul Dukat (loved to hate him)
