Whedonverse

Check out Fray. That one is pretty cool. It does have a sad part near the end, but it is an awesome continuation of the Vampire Slayer story.

I think Fray and Buffy join together in the next arc of Season 8, don’t they? Or at least, that’s what Scott Allie said at the end of ‘Wolves at the Gate.’ I’m really loving the freedom that Joss has with the series in comic book form. And it’s really holding up very well to the tv show… though i wish the comics were longer!

after some research (or a few minutes with Google), i believe i have found compelling evidence that all the above-mentioned works exist in the same universe. in the Alien films, Ripley and her coworkers are employees of the morally bankrupt Weyland-Yutani corporation. now, in the final season of Angel, Weyland-Yutani is listed among the clients of the evil law firm Wolfram & Hart. thus, the Weyland-Yutani corporation links the Alien and Angel universes, and also necessarily links the Alien universe with Buffy, seeing as the series Angel was spun-off from BtVS. finally, some weapons in Firefly bear the Weyland-Yutani corporate logo. the existence of the Weyland-Yutani corporation in Alien, Buffy/Angel, and Firefly means that it is at least very likely that they all inhabit the same universe, albeit at very different time periods.

the real question, in my mind, is this: what about Predator? i mean, besides why i’ve been spending my time looking up this kind of thing, rather than working on my music.

GWC addiction. we all suffer

Not sure about the canon but I have heard parallels drawn between Weyland-Yutani and Blue Sun corporations. I’m not sure I like thinking about Serenity existing in the same universe as Alien. Reavers, Blue Sun, and Adelei Niska are bad enough. Though I am gifting the Book comic to see if the fam’ will put up with me getting all the rest it will be our first foray into this particular series. Teehee. It’s convoluted and many times makes sense only to me but I do have a plan.

I love the sexy look of this.

i like how the neon pink set against black recalls the series’ humble origin as a 1980s Kristy Swanson vehicle.

It actually IS a screencap from the 1980s theatrical movie…

it actually couldn’t be an 80s flick since it doesn’t star Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, Anthony Michael Hall, Rob Lowe or Demi Moore. if I’m not mistaken, it was early 90s

oh. um. :o

I wouldn’t see anything more than just an homage or a wink from Whedon to the Alien movies. Plus when you look at the full list of Wolfram & Hart’s clients you can also find other fictional conglomerates like Yoyodyne and… News Corp.

I agree with Yorick. I wouldn’t call whedon tales and Aliens in the same universe, but just a clever writer’s or a prop guys’s inside joke for Weylan Yutani being the ultimate evil megacorporation, like Microsoft or Scientology. [wiki]
