What's the difference btw...

Hey guys,

What’s the difference between a boar and a hog? A warthog?

If only we had an engine that searches the Intertubes for us?

:stuck_out_tongue:

(unless this is A TRAP!)

Simple answer: hogs are domestic and boars are wild… but Solai’s link gives more details. I’m sure the physical trait differences have something to do with the domestication process over time, too. I think a warthog is just a subset of wild boar in Africa. I think they also sing… Hakuna Matata ; )

Male domestic hogs/pigs are also called boars…the females are sows.

Thanks y’alls!

Btw, I did search the interwebs as an afterthought (doh!) but Solai’s link is pretty awesome(!) and one that I didn’t manage to find (that said link)

Anyways, I was interested in the common perception as well as the wiki answer to this question.

Good job guys!

Here’s a follow-up question:

Anyone know the words for pig, swine, hog, warthog, bacon, pork, and ham in High German/Swiss German? I only know “speck” ~_~

Colloquial as well as dictionary terms are both welcome!

PS it’s for my writing exercise/book that I’m working on “3 Piggs (in the style of RDM)”

About three beers, AM I RIGHT!?!?! High five!

Good answer!
