I still listen to a ton of podcasts but one of the best new ones out there is the Tobolowsky Files. Its an offshoot of the /Film cast which is on of my new favorite podcasts as well. Basically the whole premisie of the show is that Stephen Tobolowsky (Ned, Ned Ryerson) tells stories from his life. He is truly a gifted story teller. I laugh I cry. I learn new things. you can find it at i-Tunes and at the /Film website

i listen to alot of differt pod cast like
the force cast a star wars podcast
the big honkin show it’s a fun show
geek out loud thay talk about anything geek
the geek show podcast
heaven
scott sigler podcast
jc hutchins seventh son
playing for keeps
but my number one podcast gwc!!!

I’m a ST: DS9 fan, and I picked up on The Gamma Quadrant, a weekly 1/2 hour podcast dedicated to the show. Certainly nothing as slick as GWC, but the two guys and a girl that do it (seems that is the defacto podcast compliment) are likable enough (if not a little dry), and really focus in on various aspects of the episodes. The hosts are opinionated enough to keep it interesting.

hehe, a fellow Steve bighonkin fan. i really started listening to Steve and Derek during TSCC.

By the way, those who enjoys 12 Byzantine Emperors, should also enjoy new podcast by the same guy, Norman Centuries. It’s about how Normans begin their empire in France and became a major player in European history.

i was excited to see there is a podcast for DS9… first i listened to the newest one on Armageddon Game. I was a bit amazed they were bashing it so much. But fine, it’s not the most memorable DS9 episode anyway.

then i listened to the podcast on Season 2 episode “Cardassian”. and they were still bashing it. that to me was one of the best episodes… If i listen to Duet and they are still bashing it, I might have to abandon ship =_=

if you wanna listen to a more laid back star wars podcast, I entrust you to check out the Imperial Holonet Radio podcast.

Those of you that have a general interest in sport, but would like a more non-traditional discussion might enjoy Slate’s Hang Up and Listen podcast.

Skeptics Guide To The Universe

I had no idea there was a DS9 podcast! I’ve downloaded the first 8 or so … I listen to podcasts all day while I work, so I have a ridiculous number I follow - a mix of various NPR & sci-fi shows. I tend to save GWC for afternoons when I need something to keep me going.

you guys should check out the tobolowsky files its fun

Ok, I think it is time to put out an updated version of my master. I recently have gotten into the habit of listening to Adam Carolla daily, and mixing in something different occasionally. The video podcasts are kept primarily for when I commute via train into the City.

The Adam Carolla Podcast - It’s Adam. He is hi-larious…and brilliant.

Ask a Ninja - Classic

Best of YouTube - Video - This keeps me in the loop on recent memes

Dilbert Animated Cartoons - 30 second Dilbert cartoons

Freakonomics Radio - Love Freakonomics? NY Times just started putting this out.

GWC - Duh

The Moth Podcast - Cool stories from people onstage without notes.

The Nerdist - Chris Hardwick’s new podcast. Check it out.

New Yorker: Comment

The Onion Radio News: Fast and funny. When I have nothing else to listen to I listen to this.

The Ricky Gervais Podcast: Occasionally updated. Funny stuff when he isn’t pitching something.

The Stuff of Genius: Short video podcast on inventors.

Stuff They Don’t Want You to Know: Short video podcast on conspiracy theories. Really interesting.

Stuff You Should Know: Classic.

Superego: My brother just told me about this. Jury is still out, but pretty funny so far.

Techstuff: Classic.

This American Life: Classic.

Tiki Bar TV: Classic video.

Tool Talk: Classic Chuck and Sean.

WNYC’s Radio Lab: Highest quality most profound podcast out there.

Two podcasts I don’t subscribe to but check to see who is on them:

I Love Movies: Funny podcast, but only download when the guests are people I know.

iTunes: Meet the Author: This is brilliant. Check out the John Hodgeman and Steven Colbert ones.

OK here’s the full crazy list. Having a 2-hour commute helps a lot.

Comedy

Film Sack - These guys watch the dregs of Netflix and then review it. Great stuff!
FourCast - The hosts have two guests on and they make predictions about the future. Always entertaining, sometimes informative
Mondays - 4 Nerds get drunk and have a laugh. Some segments include Amazing Tales of Poo and People Dumber Than Me. Updates infrequently these days
NSFW - Craziness from the TWiT network. Kinda like a game show but a different one every week
The Onion Radio News - Spoof news

Random Awesomeness

GWC - Yay! This would be in comedy but it had too much awesome
Dr. Kiki’s Science Hour - My weekly dose of science info
East Meets West - The hosts discuss whatever they feel like from politics and religion to what is on TV
LOSTCasts - What just happened on TVs Lost?
Podrunner - Free exercise music
Science Fiction Book Review Podcast - The host reads SF and then reviews it…pretty self-explanatory really.
Sword & Laser - Related to the S&L Book Club
The Lost Podcast (Jay & Jack) - Erm… what happened in Lost this week again? (Because I can’t wait a week dammit and an extra 3 hours of folks discussing it helps).

Tech News

Buzz Out Loud - Daily dose of news with commentary
CNET News - Daily dose of news without commentary
FLOSS Weekly - interviews with people in the Open Source community
This Week in google - more about cloud computing than strictly google
This Week in Tech - Discussion about the weeks events in the tech sector

Software Engineering Radio - Not really .NET related but great interviews about the software engineering discipline
Talking Shop Down Under - An ALT.NET Aussie guy does interviews (new)

Slate.com is having a “pledge” drive this week. They aren’t asking for money, but they are asking those who listen to recommend them those who don’t. I listen to their political, culture and sports (called Hang Up and Listen) podcasts. Each give very different perspectives of their respective topics than typical podcasts. Often quite snarky and always entertaining. I recommend each.

They have some very positive opinions on many of the episodes too, more so now in Season 2 (where they are currently) than Season 1, which was simply NOT a very good season of DS9 in my opinion. DS9 really hit it’s stride in Season 2 and 3 for me.

I’m glad I was able to find this for you, and welcome to GWC!

well most of these have been mentioned, and posted by me before

GWC well obviously
tobolowsky files
Geek out loud
big honkin show
common sense with dan carlinhardcore history
gadgettes
views from the long box
Left right and center

I’m a big fan of Beware the Hairy Mango. They’re very short, about five minutes, but wonderfully twisted (and usually fun) short-short fiction.

There is a small chance I already posted this. If so, check it again.

Tobolowsky Files is amazing…

i’ve also jumped onto the freakonomics bandwagon. cannot. get. enough.

i listen to wil wheaton’s radio free burrito, too. it’s a surprisingly personal podcast into the ruminatiosn and creative process of a man once left for chlid actor dead.
