Why they ripping on Jane? She wasn’t that bad.
Well, yeah maybe ya right.
So Blanche is the big time star now? I missed that first time around. So I didn’t know who hit who. Now I know.
Not as far as I can tell. She’s not listed in the credits.
According to IMDb, yes:
The scenes from Jane’s early films that show her to be a flop as an actress are scenes from Parachute Jumper (1933) and Ex-Lady (1933). When Bette Davis heard that the crew was looking for poor footage of her from that time, she (half-jokingly) suggested that any of her films from the period would do.
Jane is drinking…so why’d Blanche let her drive? Hmmmmm…
I love that. Bette Davis is awesome.
I’m guessing this is old footage for Crawford as well.
And I thot commercials now-a-days were bad.
I think the idea was that she peaked early, like so many child actors do. Once she wasn’t young and cute any more, her appeal was gone.
And as we know from last week’s movie, Hollywood is a fickle master.
“That fat sister…”
Gotta be a teenager…smart-mouth.
That is some glass of booze she’s got there.
So I guess they just happen to be playing Blanche’s old films…actually that’s a pretty great idea for a transitional scene. Brilliant.
Bette Davis is cracking me up with the nosy neighbor.
Interesting tidbit from Wikipedia:
Crawford was infuriated when Davis was nominated for an Oscar and she was overlooked. She contacted the Best Actress nominees who were unable to attend the ceremonies and offered to accept the award on their behalf should they win. When Anne Bancroft was declared the winner for The Miracle Worker, Crawford triumphantly pushed her way past Davis saying “Step aside!”, and swept onstage to pick up the trophy. Davis later commented, “It would have meant a million more dollars to our film if I had won. Joan was thrilled I hadn’t.”
She tosses the flowers in the sink!
HA!!
Oh no the ringer. That’s not gonna be good.
The actress is actually Bette Davis’ daughter.
“I didn’t mean to ring about my breakfast.”
Oh no. I don’t know if I trust Blanche.
Jane can mimic her sister’s voice. Interesting.
The mother or the daughter? Gotta be the daughter. That’s even funnier. She called her mom fat.
“Oh! You’ve seen Jane.”
So coy, Blanche. So coy. I’m suspicious. I doubt this film is going that route, though. I think Jane will be the villain in this, not Blanche.
Ah, so they are showing Blanche’s old films. Letters from the TV station. Nice touch. That’s good writing.
Why’s that?
Jane can mimic her sister’s voice. Interesting.
Isn’t it though?
The daughter. She wrote a tell-all book about her mother too, a la “Mommie Dearest”.
