It is often incredibly difficult to squeeze a podcast quote into a 140 character tweet. Sometimes it is possible, but sometimes it is not possible. There have been many quotes transcribed so far that do not make it into tweets on Twitter or the polls here. Those quotes can be read in their entirety on the Google Doc link below labeled “GWC Podcast Quotes.”
The same goes for the 100 character limitation in the polls. Stripping out the tweet hash tags like #GWC23 and url links to the podcast discussion on the blog or forum helps some, but there are occasions that a quote simply cannot be reduced to 100 characters. In those instances the decision was made to not include those quotes in the poll. It was a rule of the game imposed by the bounds of the GWC Forum poll software so if the quote didn’t fit into 100 characters it could not be used.
This time StuffheardonGWC has made an exception. Many long time GWC listeners will point to GWC23 as the turning point for the podcast. It was that defining moment for many from just great BSG content Galactica Watercooler to an extraordinary podcast and what ultimately led to the Galactic Watercooler podcast and community. Aside for Sean’s eternal passion for The Matrix and Audra’s deep thoughts and always witty and insightful comments, a big part of what made GWC23 stand out is the intelligent flowing dialog of Dr. Jerome B Wichelns (who was recently showcased in the GWC300th podcast).
Dr. Wichelns is not long winded by any means. In fact he remarkably puts an entire thesis into a simple sentence. Unfortunately many of those sentences are longer than 100 characters and to shorten them any further would remove their meaning completely. It didn’t feel right not including these quotes in the poll. So for this poll only 5 quotes will be listed by number below in their entirety. These 5 quotes will be represented by their number and a brief description in the poll seen above.
