Aw, shucks. Yeah, Stroogie’s an old nickname that I use on a lot of sites. I decided to try something new for the forums. Huzzah!
I just got a DVD from Netflix that would be a good DTA…Night of the Comet!
Enemy Mine
Awesome movie.
with a GREAT!!! twist
enjoy
wow I havent seen that movie in ages!ahh it takes me back to the 80s
Oh, this one doesn’t just take you back to the 80’s it slams you right there. I enjoyed watching it again. I certainly didn’t remember that Robert Beltran was in it until he appeared on the screen.
When I was a young lad, this was my first zombie movie yet all I can remember are the babes in it. To me, after watching this and ‘The Last Starfighter’, Catherine Mary Stewart was “accessible” as opposed to someone like Heather Thomas. All this talk about BOOBies just has my mind going there.
Apologies abound.
Perfect!!!

yea I after thinking of that I had to pull out the dvd and watch it again! still can watch that movie 100 times and never get tired of it!
Y’know, it might be of some worth to have a DTA suggestions thread here.
My Suggestion (if no one has mentioned it yet) is Ghostbusters. I didn’t like the sequel much, but the first is great.
I also second “Galaxy Quest”. Loved that movie.
There is a little known 80s movie that might fit the bill. You guys probably have never heard of it:
Real Genius
I just made this argument over in the “is Ghostbusters Scifi?” thread, but will repeat it here.
If the Wargames argument is that it contains artificial intelligence, then Real Genius contains satellite based lasers that can vaporize a person on the surface.
That’s scifi. Please give me a reason to rewatch this all time classic that had a profound influence on me!
Only if we can do “Weird Science.”
Done!
Weird Science! Weird Science! Weird Science!
Maybe a podcast dedicated to the John Hughes canon – 16 Candles, Weird Science, Breakfast Club, Weird Science. And Pretty In Pink and Some Kind of Wonderful. And She’s Having a Baby, mebbe?
Weird Science, talk about some suspect representation of the hacking experience…
OH, and John Hughes actually created the National Lampoon’s Vacation mythos!
and dont forget lots and lots of popcorn enough to say fill a house
!!Real Genius !! I’ll third, fourth, and fifth that nomination…this movie is so smarta**, so funny, and it still makes me laugh as only an almost middle-aged geek can every time.
And it has the nifty bromide laser companion plot, which is something a lot of movies lack…
Weird Science…also a great choice, this movie actually made it cool to be Anthony Michael Hall, for awhile anyhoo, which is saying a whole lot.
