What about "V" as an Arc?

As a Child this show gave me nightmares, dreams about the space ships landing outside my window. Later as a young adult I enjoyed it greatly, it was fun show about what if aliens came to earth but not to help or better human kind, instead to take or recourses like water and food. The food they took were humans.

And the occasional gerbil.

This would be a great one to do, but I wonder how hard it is to come by these days. Is it on Netflix?

BTW, one of my cats is named “V” after this show. (She was supposed to be a visitor…)

Hey Pike, thats fraking Cool. I don’t know I bought the DVD’s way back when. I bet it’s on ITUNES. but thats going to run up some money.

Huh. It is on iTunes. $30.00 for the season.

I wonder about the Mini-S and Finale movie, if I’m remembering it correctly.

Great idea! Love this series. Some of the special effects are a little dated, but for the most part, it holds up really well.

It’s available on Netflix, although not to view instantly. :frowning:

V: The Original Miniseries

V: The Final Battle

V: The Complete TV Series

The DVDs are fairly cheap, too (under $10 for each miniseries and about $15 for the series).

All are available on iTunes, as well.

edit: Yeah, what Pike said.

what about when the chick(lizard?) swallowd that f’n guinee pig whole??? or ate it??? i will always have that scene burnt into my brain… great sci-fi chldhood exp…

love the idea of the arc

crap… pike beat me to the gerbil(guinee pig)… i was so excited i didnt read all the posts… BOOOOO

It’s never shown onscreen, but it’s strongly implied that they eat humans the same way: swallowed whole and alive. Those red uniforms must have been very stretchy.

I know they had some kind of meat packing plants that they put humans in those werd plastic case and transported them to the ship. I know they ate Mice all the time, I don’t remember the guinee pig, but I don’t put it past them. I know Devon’s son was put in one of the ships until they knew who he was, then they unfrozze him.

Yeah, that’s the one scene everybody remembers.

edit: Yeah, what Pike said. Again.

ahhhh… i think i just “shsorrybarbit” myself…

thats def. the scene i remember

Liked the mini-series as a kid, but when it went full series I fell out of like real fast. Became a soap opera with gerbil swallowing to me.

Which automatically puts it a step above your ordinary soap operas, but yeah, I (and the rest of America, apparently) agreed.

Yea i just watched it from Netflix for the first time since it was on TV. I always laughed when the talked about the “Conspiracy of Scientists.” It struck me as coming from a time when science and technology were crazy things that the “normal” person couldn’t comprehend. If/When they do a remake i wonder if they will talk about “Scientists” with such reverence or if they will actually break it down to an individual branch of science.

I just caught it recently too, and it seemed more plausible than when it first aired. Imagine if the Visitors said that evolution was BS, for example.

Since a new version of “V” is going to be on TV this fall, a short arc discussing the 2 mini series would be great. I wasn’t a huge fan of the series after the movies but I would give it a watch.
