On second thought, a whole planet seems like overkill. The draw of GWC is the community, and with everyone spread out across a whole planet (kinda like a certain series finale), no matter how cool, I’m afraid we’d loose that.
Sure there’s the transporter factor, but out of sight, out of mind…
So, unless this is some planet that we visit only some of the time (Matrix, holodeck, Tron, …Wonderland) then I’d be happier with a village, small city, floating island, undersea dome, subterranean lost world… something more cozy.
Unless it was like a planet from The Little Prince I guess.
Eh, let’s keep it simple. We’ll build it in Chuck’s backyard. He won’t mind.
I was thinking about this too.
What if the gutter was a literal giant trench sized moat many stories deep, perhaps circling the great Town Meet-up Hall or GWCville square and spanned by many bridges. I imagine it would look something like Blade Runner down there.
The overall layout of GWCville then would be radial, much like DC. (with the added benefit of keeping the statement “all paths eventually lead to the gutter” true)
During the day, GWCville would look relatively normal, but at night the neon glow, smoke and noise from the GOES would radiate up in a beautiful and ruckus halo.
So, what actually WOULD be in the center, anyway? The above suggestions? Amphitheater? Recording studio? Emerald City? Spaceport?

I just noticed this post from TG from back in Sept 2007 (from the podcast #63 thread). I knew that "life-sized Galactic idea had been lurking about for while!! Now we just have to put it on truck and ship it to GWCville.
Why would we have to ship it? Don’t you have the transporters working yet?
Sure, I’ve got the design and prototyping of the transporters done just fine.
But to transport something the size of the Galactica, I’ll need 200 x all the existing man-made energy on Earth. I don’t what the Power Company to be pissed at me when I plug this thing in, cuz rebooting my TiVo after a power outage is a pain the arse.

I got the pun. We just really use the word for hill in German for that particular … anatomical detail. Maybe they’re bigger over here?:eek:
