As a kid back in the late 80’s my dad who was in the Navy took me on a dependants cruise on the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) . I was pretty psyched when I saw the ships motto “the fleets own battlestar” on the deployment patch. It is pretty cool that RDM is a Navy man and tries to bring a sense of reality to the show.
