I’m interested in starting a weekly “Geek Panel” Hangout on Google+. Each week we’ll discuss a different “geek topic” in a sort of roundtable discussion. My idea for this is for it to be a podcast for non-podcasters. In other words, it’s a chance for us to get together and discuss a topic (whether we stay on it or not) the way Chuck, Sean, and Audra do each week. The only difference is that we won’t be posting it on iTunes.
Here’s how it will work: I’ll announce the topic ahead of time, and you can RSVP via G+ if you’re interested in joining the discussion that week. When I start the Hangout, I’ll invite you and you’ll see it show up in your stream.
The discussion format is pretty simple: one topic, one hour. We’ll have a set topic to discuss, you can say whatever you want, but we cut ourselves off an hour after the Hangout starts. I’m sure plenty of topics could spark hours of discussion, but the challenge will be to say what we want to say in a set amount of time.
I’m going to give this a whirl Wednesday night (10/19) at 10 PM Eastern. Our inaugural topic will be “Zombie Survival Preparedness.” When there’s no more room in Hell, and the Dead walk the Earth, will you be ghoul-bait? Or will you organize before they rise?
