web site content management system

I am helping my husband organize his company’s web site redesign. One thing they definitely need is a content management system.

Can anyone recommend one that they have used or use currently?

I believe some of them are freeware, is this correct?

Is c.m.s. software compatible with Dreamweaver?

Thanks a lot for your help. I do appreciate it.

Lisa

CMS software is generally not compatible with Dreamweaver, The software is developed to be an all-in-one solution. They generate their content internally and store it in a database.

Most people don’t think of it as such, but I find Wordpress to be an excellent piece of software. It’s very expandable and scalably. What is your husband trying to do? Joomla and Drupal both have very strong developer communities, have been in use for a while, and are free.

i highly recommend Joomla. I’ve installed it on several occasions and have worked with multiple versions of it.

I can help you with the install if you need. I’m also cheap if you want me to do it for you

I can show you samples if you need (Pm me)

I use drupal (which is free), but it has a pretty steep learning curve.

I’ve heard a few podcasts that have been promoting (aka been sponsored by) squarespace (a WYSIWYG hosting/website builder service), although while squarespace apparently makes it simple to get a site up and running, it does have a monthly fee.
