Way Station by Clifford Simak

Hello,

Has anyone else read this book? I looked back in the threads to see if anyone has disscussed this yet and didn’t see it. The book is about a man named Enoch and his life as the sole human that runs an interstellar way station on Earth. He has to keep the way station secret from all other humans because Earth is considered too barbaric to be included in the larger federation of worlds. In return for his help in running the station, he has been granted near immortality. The problem is, the U.S government is getting suspicious of Enoch and his longevity and start investigating. I probably haven’t described the book well enough to get the sense of it, but I enjoyed reading it and wondered if anyone else had.

This is my second time posting here. I joined after finding the GWC podcasts on iTunes and have been listening religiously for about a month now. This forum is great and I am really impressed by the knowledge, the humor, and niceness that people display here. Thanks for reading!

Piss off!

I’m joking! It’s a joke! C’mon, you sent that one low and across the plate…

Welcome aboard, BP! Yeah, it’s a nice little corner of the 'net. Don’t tell anyone or you’ll ruin it…

I haven’t read this book, but the premise sounds a bit like Farscape (which I haven’t watched. (I seem to know a lot about stuff I know nothing about.))

BP, yes I’ve read the Way Station many moon ago, as a kid. I remember I loved it enough to read it twice. Just saw this thread. The name of the book caught my eye.
