They never say what the game is, I’m pretty sure thats on purpose. Seems a lot like Everquest or WoW though, and I guess thats the point.
Yup, she’s said as much in interviews.
It’s never explicitly named in the series b/c (a)copyright/trademark issues might arise, and (b)leaving it unnamed makes the appeal that much broader, since it’s really about the players and not the specific game. (It applies as well to EVE or even Second Life.)
All I know is in doing research for this podcast I have seen plenty of pictures of the Guild cast at Blizzard corporate headquarters. It may never be stated for all the reasons we have discussed, but it is pretty clear what game they are actually playing (although, as Pike rightly points out, is besides the point)
Yeah, I was afraid of that. ((But… they don’t have ridiculous shoulder armor, it can’t be WoW!)) I’ll just keep telling myself they’re in Everquest because, otherwise…
For the Horde!
ETA: After rewatching the entire series I’m now having to fight the urge to reinstall WoW. Filthy enablers!
Oh gods, this is what I love about SL: watching a vid with audience reaction in real time.
(Not that this is SL. It’s a larger point)
I’ve been feeling the same way just because of the upcoming cast! Augh!

You can always pony up for EvE and join some of us obsessive MMO folks there.
(I should do a “Do You Want To Date My Iteron” video.)
Make it so!
Um… I did, about two months ago. Just never seem to be logged on when any of you are active. I’m Denis Jacquard in-game.
Oh, man, don’t tempt me! The only reason I haven’t re-uped my WoW account is because I can’t afford a second game. So, that means no EVE either.

Yesterday, I finally went to watchtheguild.com. I then proceeded to watch both seasons, the Comic-con panel, and the music video. The show is just hilarious and addictive. I loved when the cast came on stage in costumes for the panel.
Another great recommendation from GWC! The first recommendation was Firefly, so I knew that I was in good hands.
OK, here’s another Felica Day sighting in a slightly… different role. NSFW dialog.
I love how the static picture of that video is the “tank and spank” pic. lol!
I have JUST seen the first episode on Xbox, and it is everything I had hoped for! Felicia has again brilliantly set up the entire season in five short minutes! Friggin’ w00t!
Oh, and just so everyone’s clear (I wasn’t), it’s only this first episode that is being released a week early for Xbox Live Gold memberships. After this, simultaneous releases everywhere.
Wow!
No pun intended.
Spires of Dragador!
Can’t wait.
FYI, I created a thread specifically for The Guild S03E01 where we can discuss without the fear of spoilers.
Gorram it! First Bungie, now the Guild.
From Blizzcon, Felicia Day answers the question “Does the carpet match the drapes?”
Best part of an otherwise completely rude and inappropriate question was Jeff Lewis’ off-the-cuff response: “I think she has blinds.”
I wish I lived in CA just so I could check out Lewis and Parikh’s improv. These guys are awesome.
