Any True Blood fans out there? It’s a total frakking joy! Best show ever (since BSG anyhow).
there are a few of us that Enjoy that show over here in Japan. just have to make sure the lights are on when watching it.
Love it! I’ve read four of the books, have the season 1 DVDs and have seen a few episodes of season 2. I love the blend of horror, humor and romance. Plus Eric is the sexiest Viking Vampire ever!
I am enjoying it despite Sookie & Bill.
My husband wonders how I can love a show so much and yet hate the two main characters so vocally It got me reading the books–fun popcorn reading, even if the author has that weird disconnect when it comes to what constitutes good vs. weird clothes that the author of the Baby-Sitters’ Club books did.
Also, Book!Sookie = roughly fifty times more awesome than True Blood!Sookie. Eric, however, is awesome regardless of the media.
I wonder that myself every time I watch the show & find myself actively disliking or rolling my eyes at the two of them! Season 2 was much better with ther est of the cast coming more to the forefront.
I can’t believe how much I went from hating Jessica in season 1 to liking her in season 2.
Now I’m totally torn between reading the books and saving them so I’m not spoiling the TV show.
Oh, I wouldn’t worry. The stories in the books are way different from what’s happening on the show most of the time (werewolves, witches and fairies–oh, my!). And as Sithwitch said, Book!Sookie is a lot more enjoyable than TV!Sookie. But the TV show does give you a lot more of the other characters like Tara, Sam, Jason, Lafayette, etc. simply because the books are written from Sookie’s perspective and can’t really go there.
Much like Pam, I wanted to stake Jessica as soon as she emerged from her grave, but she’s startin’ to grow on me. As long as she doesn’t hurt Hoyt. I haven’t seen all of season 2 so don’t tell me.
I am totally loving Jessica!
BadgerSpoon told me about the show and I checked it out.
I didn’t like Sookie and Bill either. I wondered if that was on purpose, having not read the books. I figured they did the romance over-the-top for a reason. It’s so heavy-laden it’s sickening.
Like most people I love the character Lafayette. His unabashed demeanor is refreshing. He doesn’t take craaaap from no one.
I was sorry to see his character tortured in the second season. But I figured they need a strong character to break and he was the strongest.
The reason I think you can hate the main characters and still love the show is since all the supporting characters are interesting. Jason Stackhouse is a trip. Tara breaks my heart everytime. And the rest of the town are just rip-roaring hick fun.
I really like the vampire backstories and flashbacks.
I forget where I heard/read it, but I think it was TV show producer Alan Ball… Lafayette dies in the first book (?), but as soon as the actor auditioned, they knew they’d keep him around.
This is nitpicking, but I was more into the Texas plot than the Bon Temps plot. Still, Michelle Forbes was awesome.
The bit where Jason Stackhouse returns to the town is hilarious. “That ain’t him. God that comes has horns.”
Erik is a dick.
The Godric plot was really nice. Had a moving end.
(Pre) Season 3 minisode online!!! Dancer auditions at Fangtasia. Hot and hilarious.
I’ve been loving the minisodes. “THE LION FROM NARNIA!”
Also, yay foreshadowing in the latest one!
Ugh, the choppiness of the video made me nauseated, but so very much looking forward to the next season.
(spoiler from clip)
The fae are blood-thirsty critters, and I’m thinking Barry will be in for a world of hurt for eating that food. Will his consequence be forgetfulness like Harvey Birdman? Or will it be worse?
Just finished the latest book, and the clip reminded me of all the territory left to cover, lots of good TV coming up hopefully.
Ahh, now I remember who her Grandpa is! It is Sarah Walker’s dad from Chuck!! lol
Also: The boss from the documentary Office Space. Mr. Brady from the Brady Bunch movies, the captain in the poorly executed Rangers series that followed Babylon 5, Harvey Birdman:Attorney at Law, and a bunch of other cool stuff.
Never seen him in any of these. But that he reappeared in a later Episode of Season 4 a few weeks ago.
I have a hard time watching True Blood. Not because it’s a bad show, I think it’s a rather good show. But because I can’t move my eyes away from Anna Paquin’s breasts…
