It’s not really clear if all vampires can fly. I think Sookie asks him later this season, and he sort of changes the subject.
Well Eric is SIGNIFICANTLY older than Bill so…maybe with age. Or his lineage. Or whatever.
I think it’s in his subconscious like Clark Kent in Smallville.
He doesn’t want to appear extra superhuman with flying, so he has a mental blockade to fly.
And Bill still has some connections to being human, so he decides not to fly.
Did you see the pre-season 3 mini-sodes? The one with Pam, Eric, and the Estonian dancer is my favorite of the batch.

I hated her at first. In season 2, she quickly became one of my favorites.
I’m not, she watched 3-4 episodes per evening, I in average 2 per day.
Didn’t she appear first in S2??
Well, syeah, she was like in the last episode of S1 and I didn’rt mind her very much and didn’t expect her to return for S2.
But now I enjoy her character and story, much more then Sookie’s and I’m still hoping for a Pam/Jessica scene.
