Trek Memories.

I wanted to make a page where people can share their memories of Trek. Anything and everything is welcome here…

I have a ton to sat about Trek. Where to begin. I remember when TNG first came out. I used to play it at school. Then I moved and in grade 6-8 middle school to you Americans I and a friend started a star Trek club at school. Then Paramount bought the amusement part Wonderland they did a whole Star Trek exhibit. They had props memorabilia and anything else a Trek fan could ask for. They even had a very hot Bajorin girl that was the cause of a geeks wet dream. Let’s just say it was a bit chilly that evening and certain signs were pointing. Lucky me got to ride in a roller coaster with her. They even had a back stabbing spy of a Romulan that took my friends and my idea. We were discussing that they should make Trek cookies and then a few months later out come Trek cookies. I have a picture of us beaming out somewhere. A few years latter in Toronto they had a three separate ever Trek exhibits. One at the Ontario Science Center. This exhibit had all sorts of technical details on how the props work. They had mock ups of the transporter the bridge and a few other things. Then it was off to the CN Tower for a seminar with the late and great Majel Barrett-Roddenberry. This was supposed to last an hour but being the wonderful person she was it lasted two and a half hours. She made sure she talked to all 100 of us lucky people and answer all our questions. Mine was how is Working on Trek now that tour husband is gone. Her reply was simple yet elegant. "it’s the same. The only difference is that there there is more being added to the family. The energy creativity and closeness with the cast and crew can still be felt. Gene presence is there and always will be there. Just before she wrapped up the seminar she showed us promotional material for the up coming Andromeda series. We were among the first public people to see this stuff. The whole room was awe inspired by this gracious act of hers. Then it was time for the meet and autograph session with her. Again she was an amazing host and tool time to ask your name and talk to you more before signing you an autograph. Again this picture is put away someplace safe. From here it was a mad dash to Ontario Place to watch Star Trek Generations on the Cinesphere screen. After the movie there was a seminar with Gates McFadden. Although this seminar was not as long as the first it was still amazing. Then again was autograph time. This picture is also tucked away for safe keeping. As you can see Trek has been a big part of my life and always will be. Heck I even like Star Trek the Motion Picture. It’s not slow it’s just not in warp speed like re rest. For. Now live long and prosper.

Given your post count, I guess your not brand new to the forum, but we haven’t “met”, so let me say welcome to the forum.

I’m a huge Star Trek fan, but I’m guess I’m somewhat older than you (I’m 46). I grew up loving Star Trek the original series (— and there’s a cadre of old school Trekkies on the forum too that have become my total BFFs.)

Lived, breathed, and worshiped Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty and especially the Enterprise itself. Had all the geeky stuff like the Star Trek Technical Manual and the complete Enterprise deck plans.

When I was in Jr High me and my friend made Star Fleet uniforms. We joined a Star Club in school.

Later in life, I watched all the other Star Trek series—but ST TOS is my first love.
Gamemastered a FASA ST Roleplaying game for several years. And played a lot of Star Fleet Battles.
Read boxes and boxes worth of Star Trek novels.

I don’t even consider myself a “Trekkie” because I’m more than that—I’m a Trekspert (meaning I know everything about it.)

I met Majel Barret Roddenberry at one of the last ST conventions I went to, and I totally gushed and told her “You’re more beautiful in real life.”.

Star Trek Wrath Khan remains my favorite movie of all time and the one I’ve seen more than any other.

Yeah, …suffice it to say I have a lot of Star Trek memories…and I had kinda put my love of Star Trek on the shelf—like an obsolete toy—until I was lucky to stumble across GWC and find so many other Star Trek geeks out there just like me.

And, the rest is GWC history.

I’ll second Thot here. I to came to Trek many moons ago. (as of today 46 just like him). Was on all the time on ch 11 here in the tri state. Used to even tape the shows. No not VHS, audio cassette. Just being able to travel and listen to the shows was just soo cool then.

Thank fully I have met the entire cast except for the Shat himself. I still remember the SNL Get a Life skit he did. The first person I got to meet was when I was oh maybe 10 when they came out with the line of trek toys. I had to have them all they figures the Bridge the phaser, tricorder ect. What was the Alexanders here in NJ in Paramus they had a meet and greet with Nimoy. Needless to say that was an opportunity I could not pass up. The line snaked out past the doors down the side of the building. Even with all this he was great.

I got to meet lots of the TNG cast. There is an annual con in Long Island called ICON. Usually they get someone from the shows. First one I went to had Takei and Koenig. Both were great. Got to meet Kelly in NYC. back in LI got sigs from both Takei and Koenig. Along with Mark Leonard, Delancie, Michael Dorn, Marina Sirtis(please don’t get me started with her, talk about @#$%^& rated). One of the most pleasant persons was Jimmy Doohan. Considering what he had been through (WWII ect). He was nothing but class all around.

Talos, Pike, Thot and myself have had some wonderful discussions (Yeah thats it discussions:D). About different parts of the show. Since you seen to be a recent member here. Somewhere here in the forums is some fan fic we all did about a certain security officer. If you don’t know TOS that well it may not make sense. Still you might enjoy it. Anyone here have the link?

Anyway thanks for the thread. I haven’t thought about this in a long time.

Enterprise NCC-1701, Chief of Security’s Personal Log

My brother and I did that to. the two tapes that lasted longest were, the Doomsay machine, and Balance of Terror. both of which get quoted from every holiday.
oh we did do the same thing with Hogan’s Heros to.

Anyway thanks for the thread. I haven’t thought about this in a long time.

Yes. I agree. Great Thread idea.

I have a few more memories that I’ve dredged up thinking more. The best thing really wasn’t about Trek just involved Trek action figures. In High school for a English media class my friend and I had to do a project involving the opening scene on Macbeth. The kicker we couldn’t use people well we decided to do stop motion with Trek figures. If you’ve never done stop motion all I can say it is hard but pays off. So we made little costumes to go over their uniforms. The setting a bar. Picard, Sisko and Bashir as the three witches. Riker as the anti-Christ looking Jesus bar tender. Troi as a customer and one non Trek figure dressed like Han Solo (not Trek but a fun add in). So we spent 8-9 hours filming this over exaggerated hands talking 10 minute scene. Well with all the action in the foreground we had some interesting stuff in the back. The best was Han going to the bathroom and giving everyone the finger. Then to add to the geek we dubbed over the Klingon battle theme for music score. We got am A on this and even won am award at a awards show for best sound track. Who knew Trek toys were more then just to look at.

LOL. I totally forgot about that thread. We should resurrect it. Many more episodes to go, many more red shirts to die

So true. I have been rereading them. We all have to get back to it. If we really can knock them out and be good we need to make a page either here or somewhere. So that it can all be taken in.

Borrowing from the estimable GF’s memories: As a lass, she took the patterns from the Franz Joseph tech manual, and made TOS costumes for her Barbies.

The Nurse uniform is apparently a bitch.

And yes, she’s mine, and you can’t have her.

Great post so far keep them coming.

When I was about 8 or 9, my parents introduced me to Trek. I remember the first episode of trek I ever saw was the TNG episode “Haven”, where Lwaxana comes aboard to carry out an arranged marriage between Deanna and some other dude. They of course discuss how the wedding will be a traditional betazed wedding… in the nude. I remember asking my parents quite concerned, “Are they going to… show that?” After reassuring me that everything would be safe to see, i reluctantly continued watching, enjoyed it, and was delighted to hear there were 177 other great episodes! Luckily, I the first episode did not completely freak me out, and I went on to enjoy this amazing series!

Christmas 1976…

…and all was right with the world.
