9

So i went and saw the movie 9 last night made by Shane Acker.

All in all i thot it was ok. It looked amazing some of the best animation i have seen in a while however i kind thot the characters were lacking or at least the relationships between the characters. To me it seemed like a bunch of cut scenes from a RPG video game made by the Final Fantasy guys. It had the same story path where the hero wakes up and does not know what is going on. at some point he causes regrettable events to happen. He goes off alone to fix his mistake and the realizes he needs his team. Its a tried and true story. But it didn’t feel complete. I felt like the movie was missing about 20 minutes of character development. I really didn’t care what happened to most of the lil guys. Many times in the movie the characters expressed feelings of intense emotion that seemed to come from no where. I think over all i would end up give it a 6.5 maybe a 7 out of 10

Oh one more thing. It does kinda have a Harry Potter tie in. Huge Spoiler ahead
The Creator Scientist guy…he is essentially turning the Dolls into Horcruxes
I saw it this weekend, and really enjoyed it. I didn’t think it was lacking in story, but it probably could have used another 20 minutes on some of the characters.

I filed this under “can’t wait to see but not go to a theatre for.” So I can’t wait to see it February or March, I suppose.

Why? It was a great looking movie that is worth seeing on the big screen!

Having to wrangle a babysitter makes seeing movies a “must-see” thing only.

Personally, I loved the minimalist approach this movie took. It was nice to just kind of follow along the characters and see what they see and that’s it, and I appreciated being able to sit back and enjoy the pretty pretty animation.

That said, I do wish they spent a little more time on the other characters. The non-action part that worked best for me was that little moment with all the characters and the record player. There were so many little things in that scene that were just great characterization, and it would have been nice to see a little more.

Ah, forgive my ignorance. I always assume everyone is single, no kids, healthy, unemployed and have no reason NOT to do anything.
