I’m with Andi. This whole “there’s no year 0 so the [year/decade/century/millennium] doesn’t start until xxx1” is a load of crap. There’s no year 0, sure, but there’s no 1 A.D. either, since the West didn’t start counting time from the birth of Christ until around 525 or so. So there wasn’t even a year 1 since the Romans weren’t COUNTING that way.

I also agree. A decade is a decade. I forget who said it, but the Roaring Twenties weren’t 1921-1930.
I much prefer holding to what we consider a decade to be and NOT what some mathemagicians think is right based on the erroneous assumption that anyone ever created a Year 1 when it happened.

Now we only have the problem of when the movies were released on different continents. Like one had a release date in the US in the fall of 1999 and half a year - a year later in Europe.
I will back you up too. If we call it the ???ies then that includes every year in the 20?0 spot. It is like I have said for years, the week starts on Monday. Saturday and Sunday are called the weekend after all. End being the operative word. It is right in the name! (Sorry, I think I just pulled an Armando. ;))
I would say the earliest official release is the date (Or year). But who really care. If you have a cool movie especially if you haven’t seen it posted toss it out there. Cool new content is what we are about.

when considering foreign films, i consider local release as the year of release. after all, i couldn’t see cowboy bebop: knockin’ on heaven’s door the year it came out. i had to wait until it was released here first.
