Toaster Question

Has there ever been an original (?) metallic-version Cylon that was actually referred to by name?

There’s never been a metal Cylon ‘character’?

When you say original, do you mean the 70s-80s BSG or a Centurion from the current series?

…well, I suppose the ‘reimagined’ one.

The original must have had some, no? Since they had no ‘skin-jobs’?

Silver Centurions and Gold Commanders were normally not referred to by name. For some reason I’m thinking there might have been a named silver but that may have been Starbuck with the naming.

The Il guys (the blue, clear domed dudes with the lights) I believe had names but I don’t remember. Wait, one was called Lucifer and another referred to as Specter.

I think I remember reading somewhere (maybe the wiki) that the gold centurions had two silver centurion logic cores while the IL units had three. They would select the ones that were doing well compared to others and “promote” them in this manner. Just a little tidbit there. (Ok, found that this part is not considered canon, still sounds cool though)

Not sure if that happened before or after the reptilian Cylons died off.

someone else will have to answer your questions about the original series, but the new series itself has never named a cylon centurion,… however GWC has done something of the sort…

larry is a cylon from the bsg movie razor - he is seen in a flashback to the first cylon war, where he gets in a gun fight with a young bill adama, and then winds up dying by getting beaten with a pipe by adama. see the movie and all will be made clear. or the above thread

Ah. I never watched the original, but I assumed they must have been ‘characters’.

In the new series, you do see the metal Cylons in various episodes, but I’ve never heard anyone address one.

OTOH, there’s this for reference!

Heck, so that’s Larry. Thanks Craprica. Good to be enlightened.

Not unless you count “Scar” but he was a raider.

That’s a great question, one I’d hoped they would explore eventually. 'Cuz, at some point, one of the toaster models must have developed a little personality, right?

I always assumed they would just have a serial number.

Characters have spoken to the Centurions, but they never have said names, only given them orders.

Was hoping someone’d mention him. He was a raider killed so often he’d grown a rather vindictive personality.

There have to have been some centurions in the same boat, but since Galactica’s, erm, contact with Cylons in general before the alliance was fighter to raider and ship to ship, we’ve not had a chance to meet any of these angry, angry toasters.

They have never said the centurions resurrect.
Considering that their intelligence was inhibited for such a long time it would seem to be useless to take the time to reload memories that would never even be put to use.

The Centurions have never been named in either series. The one exception is “Cy” the reconstructed Centurion that Starbuck put together from the crew of an original raider.

<—That’s him on the right.

Yeah, don’t Colonials giving them names counts.

Otherwise you’d have a WHOLE bunch of em named “Frakker!” and uh…that’s probably about it really.

I am going to show my age here… There was ONE other instance where a Cylon from the original series was named… There was an episode where Starbuck (Dirk B) landed (crashed?) on a planet inhabited by people. He might have been chasing a cylon that crashed there too. Anyway, the “bad guy” in the town found the centurion, and named him “Red Eye” and used him as an enforcer. Did a lot of gun slinging against people armed with “Nemo” energy weapons, not capable of penetrating the outer metal skin of Red Eye. Anyway, Starbuck revealed himself and had a gun fight with Red Eye and won. They picked him up and they went on their merry way to eventually find modern day earth. The end.

Hrm. I guess that counts as a name, too. Good call.

It was Apollo who crashed (hence the post-Serena romantic twist story-line), but, otherwise, correct.

I could’ve sworn the gold one commanding the Gun on Ice Planet Zero had a name, but I don’t own the original series to check. :frowning:

I thot also. So, I looked it up. Behold!

Vulpa

…and occasionally said “please”.

Is it just me, or did that whole plotline just get dropped suddenly?
