To a wonderful ride!

I just wanted to post, that despite all my rants I have been a huge fan of the old and new Battlestar Galactica. I have been so for as long as I can remember, I was born in 1978; right in the center of what I have thought of as a mini golden age of sci fi… there was the birth of Star Wars, the re-birth of Star Trek, the campy Buck Rodgers TV series, a move of Flash Gordon, Knight Rider and of course, the creation of the old Battlestar Galactica. And yes not all of the movies and shows I mentioned were the best scripted and acted; but it was a huge exposure of Sci Fi to me that has in many ways shaped my life. Even now above my desk in my house is a photo mosaic of Jedi Master Yoda.

I guess what I am driving at is for the past 30 years I have been on this journey with BSG, first with the old and now with the new. So as this finally comes to a close I wanted to express how much it has meant that I have been able to share this ride with everyone on the forum. And now I know I have not been the most talkative on the forum, don’t call in much and fallen behind on a podcast or two; but sometimes life must intrude (like the reason I am missing the meet up that I so much wanted to go to. It sucks but the money I set aside (my father might be rich but I sure ain’t) to go needed to be used elsewhere and to be honest I was thankful I had it.) But that is another story.

Anyways, here is to sci fi fans everywhere and to the hopes of a killer last episode (and I don’t mean kill off all the characters) of BSG and too many more pod casts to come. It has meant everything to me to have people to share some of this with. I have so very much enjoyed this wonderful ride!

Cavatar

I am going to miss the show too. So here is a raised toast to all of us. Tonight the ride ends.

I think the rants just go to show how much passionate people are about the show. Even with its bumps and bruises it remains one of the best if not the best TV show ever. Thanks to David Eick, RDM, the entire cast, all the writers, directors, the special effects crew, Bear McCreary, camera crew, props crew, and everyone else for giving us this amazing experience.

I’ll raise my glass… to Galactica, we will miss you.

So say we all!

I’ll raise my glass also !!
To a great ride.

Here’s where I am. I love the show for itself and also for the give and take here at GWC. (I know there have been a lot of serious discussions and even moving ones - but what has constantly kept me coming back is the laughter - as in real, honest to gods, non mean spirited, just down right funny stuff - and boy, I don’t take that for granted.)

While the big one - BSG - is ending, I remain optmisitic that there will be more to talk about. First of all, tonight ought to keep us going pretty much until Caprica comes out on DVD on 4/21. Caprica, even if it is craaaaappy (perhaps especially if it is craaaaappy) ought to keep us going until “The Plan”. “The Plan” is going to give us more answers (and maybe raise some more questions) and keep us going until Caprica starts to run as a series in the fall. Oh yeah - then there’ll be the 4.5 DVD’s to watch until our eyes fall out.

So, we might just get to have our cake and eat it too - BSG ends (which it should before the writers run out of steam), but we keep getting interesting - or at least discussion worthy - side stories and back stories about this amazing universe RDM and the others have created.

It’s downright Ancient Greek Epic in its scope - and like those stories - while The Iliad may wrap up tonight, there may be the other related sagas yet to come that we find “worthy”.

Again, OT, you’ve said it beautifully ! Yes, Yes, Yes.

(Just in thing tho- Who the frak are the Lords of Kobol?)

Yeah - who are they? And what’s with that “jealous” god? What’s his/her frakkin’ problem? Lighten up - sheeesh.

I’ve said my thoughts about this day on other thread, so I’ll just say

So Say We All!
