I noticed Netflix Canada added Titan AE to their catalogue a few weeks ago and I finally got around to watching it this weekend. I watched it way back in school on its opening weekend, but since I was with a girl who disliked it, I also disliked it, which is wierd since it was her choice to watch. When I saw it come up in Netflix I remembered not liking it, but had no specific idea why I disliked it. Turns out, this movie is awesome.
It’s a combination of and animation and computer graphics, and aside from a couple of scenes, holds up pretty well. The whole movie feels a lot like a kid’s version of Heavy Metal 2000, which to me, is a good thing. There’s some really good character design, and I liked all the ships. Joss Whedon has a screenplay credit, and you can definitely see some of his influences which later materialized in Firefly.
If you’ve never seen it, or it’s been a while, rewatch this one.
