In the immortal words of George Takai— “Oh my”
See what I mean, though? He’s having such a great time with it. Anyone who can laugh about himself and his friends is OK in my book. That’s a sign of strong character.
Check the avatar!! Shatner is the Shat!!
I have a total man-crush on Bill. I admit that with no shame. Of all the chuff Shat has written:

I recommend Get a Life! and the Star Trek Memories/Movie Memories series.
His Odyssey trilogy (The Ashes of Eden, The Return, and Avenger) is pretty good. The Borg reanimate the dead James T. Kirk.
I also highly recommend given his album Has Been a spin. Ben Folds played on and produced it.
Well, with all due respect, Shatner has at the most co-plotted those novels. I refuse to believe he knows that much about the “Star Trek” universe, even if he did play Captain Kirk. That said, though, I read “Ashes” and “The Return,” and they were enjoyable stories, which is all that matters – the stakes ain’t Shakespeare and the western canon, after all – and of late he seems to be allowing the Reeves-Stevenses to have more front cover credit, so good on him. Also, I will agree “Get a Life” is one of the LOLiest books I’ve ever read. Loads of good-natured fun.
I like Bill Shatner these days more for playing “Bill Shatner” than for playing James Kirk. I think Shatner will be remembered for Kirk, sure, of course; but even more for creating a public persona that is engaging, funny, and (I think) more-or-less mostly genuine. He is not afraid to try new things and have fun, even at his own expense. He’s not as good an actor as Nimoy and sure not as Patrick Stewart, but he is probably the most fun of them all.
(Speaking of which, anyone else see Nimoy on “Colbert” last week? Interesting project with worthwhile goals – improving young girls body image – but, as my wife pointed out, sorta creepy nonetheless. And Colbert resisted the temptation to ask even one thing even remotely Trek or sci-fi related…? No fun!)
Sure I do. Plus, and I gotta say this about Takei, I’ve always taken him to be the most fervent Trekkie amongst the old crew, didn’t he write a novel too?
No I’m gonna tell you this, but it ain’t funny.
A couple of weeks ago, I was at my GF’s and she was fixin dinner while I was checking out the forum and then she came and looked over my shoulder and saw your avatar and goes like “THAT’S DENNY CRANE!!!” and I’m like yeah well, sort of, actually it’s William Shatner - and she goes yeah she knows that it’s William Shatner, but he plays Denny Crane. And I was already smelling a rat, I said yeah, but don’t you know who he USED to play, like what he’s really famous for? And she’s like no, he plays Denny Crane. and then she went back into the kitchen and then she came back and said that her dad had explained to her once why crane’s cell phone makes this sound when he opens it, but that she had forgotten about it…
so… wadda ya know… I knew she wasn’t into scifi, but I hadn’t known she WASN’T INTO SCIFI!
I had a simliar experience years ago. I was hanging out with a group of people and this one girl goes, “Hey T.J. Hooker is in a movie!!” She was looking at a Star Trek IV poster. I just shook my head and kept walking. Not so close to home but yeah.
:D:D:D
hahaha
wow!
the kiss was classic Elaan of Troyius

I saw this interview and it HAD to be set up so he couldn’t/wasn’t allowed to ask about ST. How else could Colbert, author of the scifi Tek Janson series have been able to control himself and not ask about past and future Trek?!!
I though the book was a little odd - good idea - but wouldn’t a spectrum of women’s shapes and sizes have also conveyed a wonderful message- though I do wonder, why do they all have to be naked?
Why indeed?
I was about to post a picture from Nimoy’s ‘Full Body Project’ and checked myself.
Yes people, it’s a first!!
I was gonna make some quip, y’know something witty. So I head over to the site…and…I got nothing. It’s art I’ll give it that. Everyone will walk away with a different impression. Since I was a young boy I have been fascinated by the female form. I also have a firm belief that every woman is beautiful. I think I need to state that before a$$umptions ensue. I am the father of two daughters and my main purpose in life is that they know they are valued, loved, respected and precious.
I’ll have to read more about what Nimoy’s take on it is. So I’ll part with: FASCINATING.
Brilliant! FT, you must tell me where this came from!
That’s from the MTV Movie Awards, circa no idea. He lands one on Carmen Electra. Well, who hasn’t? But I think that’s a notch in her belt, not his.
Bill Shatner is on my list of the five people you want a dinner party with. ANY five people ever. I cant remeber the rest off the top of my head…
Like all at the same time, in one room?
Oh yes.
Bill Shatner
Henry VIII
Marie Curie
Sir Ian McKellan
Cant remember the other one, the list has probably changed over the years too, but the Shat has always been on it. Its going to bug me all night now…
I probably have the some thing for David Hasselhoff.
Oh and the great word “chuff” needs to spread more widely throughout these premises. I move that the 100th podcast should be called the “Chuff 'cast”
I made a ‘Chuffin’ song and emailed it to GWC but I haven’t heard anything back. I know Chuck mentioned on the cast somewhere that they’re takin’ it back ala ‘Clerks 2’.
