Quoth the Anders: “We traveled at relativistic but subluminal speeds”
I’m paraphrasing but that’s what he said… to my memory.
In order for them to arrive at the Colonies and not 10x older than Cavil, they would have had to been moooooooovin, .9999C or close to it.
Earth got nuked ~2000 years ago.
Being extremely liberal, you could say they were going .99c, the distance will be (obviously) about 2000 light years.
Galactica has been traveling around for roughly 4 years, subtract 16 months for New Caprica, and you get 32 months, about 973 days.
I’m going to do a few different calculations.
In a straight line:
Supposing they jumped once per day on average:
2000 light years / 973 days (jumps) = 2.05 lightyears per jump.
Supposing they jumped once every 4 days on average:
2000 light years / 243 jumps = 8.2 lightyears per jump
Supposing they jumped once per week:
2000 light years / 139 jumps = 14.4 lightyears per jump
If they did not go in a straight line, which is likely, and went in the wrong direction at times, which is also likely, you can estimate:
1 jump per day, 1/4 in the right direction: 8.4 lightyears per jump
1 jump per 4 days: 32.8 lightyears per jump
1 jump per week: 57.6 lightyears per jump
These are all average numbers, and all based on speculation, but I will say that the first calculation is the absolute bare minimum. Even if every jump wasn’t exactly in the right direction, even if they jumped less, the max range for a jump has to be at least 2 lightyears.
And that’s all I have to say about that.
