The Star Trek Experience

I’m all for a Vegas trip, but how about a good SW meetup at the Phoenix Comicon in late Jan. 2009? Then we have everything- Trek, SW, BSG, Firefly, etc. Just a thought.

Now the Experience is having some special events before it closes. Sunday August 10th they are having an Aliens Unmasked moderated by Michael Westmore and all of the alien character that wander the facility, cost is $20 for admission. And they are having a 2 hour class on how to apply alien makeup given by the actors there that apply their own makeup each day, tuition is $50.

You can go to their website for more information: http://www.startrekexp.com

P.S. personally I’m watching their store for some of the goodies to be marked down next month.

When I was in Vegas with my fiancee, we were the only two people on the Borg Invasion tour. It was kind of cool and sad at the same time. This was back in October of 2007. We knew the tours were not going to keep going since foot traffic was so low. I think on the other tour we had eight people. Not what you call mind blowing numbers. It is to bad since it is very cool place, it just does not have enough to make you want to come back again and again and again. It is more like something you do and maybe comeback again years later. I know there are Trek fans who would go every week, for the rest of us who enjoy Star Trek, it is not great enough or does not change enough to make me come back every year to it. Don’t get me wrong, it is very cool.

I would agree, except, well, I think it was a little pricey for what you got. $30 isn’t really all that much, but when you’re with your family you end up shelling out over a hundred bucks for less than a half hour of “experience.”

It’ll (probably) be back.

That’s good news. I hope it happens and gets updated in the process. And Quark’s needs to be there too…slammin drinks.

Interesting.

When the word troubled is used to describe a casino development, especially on Fremont Street, I would think caution would be wise.

What project isn’t described as “troubled” in today’s economic crisis? I’m just glad to hear that someone is trying to put the Experience back online.

Star Trek: The Experience to be reborn on Fremont Street at the Neonopolis! From what I reading elsewhere Quark’s will be back first. Course by the time I get back to Vegas the whole shebang will be up and running…mostly.
