The ships of the line in the Star Trek universe

Hey,
Is it just me or are the spaceships in Star Trek derived from some phallic shape?
I never realized this until the Austin Powers movies made a joke about it in the 90’s and I’ve been bugged about it ever since …

Yes…it’s just you

Now if youll excuse me, I have to beam up to the USS Swinging Cod

Most are derived from the traditional “rocketship” design.

Which is kind of phallic.

Rockets are phallic shaped for a reason, they need to do the same thing: penetrate a medium (in the case of a rocket, that’s the denseness of atmosphere) with a minimum of drag to deliver their cargo to a frigid, barren place.

The most phallic ship I can think of is actually the Excalibur from the show Crusade, not from Star Trek.

I’d say most phallic would be Lexx:

But back to Star Trek…Romulans don’t seem very phallic, and Miranda class and ships that appear inspired by them seem more common than Constitution class inspired ships and are not as phallic.

Klingon ships are more boobish. (not really, just had to steer things to boobs)

Anyone here play Star Control? Remember the Syreen Penetrator?

Piloted by these space vixens:

Really? Nobody’s mentioned the ship from Flesh Gordon yet?

They only seem that way when they are entering a spacedock…

…then back out, then enter, then back out, then enter, etc.

“Something on your mind, Ensign Crusher?”

“Uh, no Captain.”

“Then kindly dock us. Might I suggest a cold-sonic shower?”
