Does anyone remember The Real Ghostbusters? It used to be my favorite cartoon, and then it completely slipped off of my radar. A few weeks ago I found out that it’s been released for the first time on DVD! Season 1 just came out and I picked it up the other day.

It’s awesome! The episodes all have introductions by random cast/crew from the show, which gives a bit of a behind the scenes info about the show. There are also some commentaries, a "making of"documentary, and a lot of other cool stuff.

Hope there’s a volume 2!

I never watched it. I had dismissed it as yet another cheesy cartoon. From everything I’ve heard since, I was dead wrong.

Yep, it’s one of the all-time classics. Right up there with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon from around the same time. I hadn’t realized they were releasing it on DVD, though. Thanks for the heads up!

JMS was the writer/story editor on 21 episodes according to IMBD, that should be enough to convince any B5 fans to check it out!

If I’m not mistaken, that show is the reason for the “real” in The Real Ghostbusters.

The Real Ghostbusters IS the shiz-nit. I have a bootleg copy, but wish I could afford the awesome complete set from TIME/LIFE in the shape of the firehouse. Even the more recent “Extreme Ghostbusters” spinoff is pretty cool, once notalgiacs like me get past the remixed theme song. The premise is good: A seemingly unlikely diverse group of Egon’s students from the local Manhattan college’s parapsychology students must take up the mantle and bust some ghosts. Dig this stuff the most, 'til the new game, which also rocks, right on!

I remember watching it, but very little else. On a related note a local cinema is showing the the first Ghostbusters movie on Monday. I can’t wait, I’ve always wanted to see it on the big screen
