second. swordfight is classic, but Valerie & Max is better
don’t you mean, “let me 'splain”?
There’s so much witty exchange in this movie, I wonder why there has never been an on-stage adaptation of this movie. Better yet, why is there no Princess Bride The Musical? We have Legally Blonde the musical, but no Princess Bride?
Mawwige. Mawwige is what bwing us today. Mawwige, that bwessed ewent. That dweem within a dween…
Inconceivable!!! though I don’t know–no adaptation would be as good as this
“Pwincess Buttacwuuup” ROFL!!!
I love when Rugen runs away…so completely unexpected
Yeah, but that never stopped anyone from trying. If there’s ever a story that bears retelling over and over again, it’s this one.
The first time I saw this movie, when I was just a kid, that was my favorite movie. The entire theater erupted when he turned and ran.
as we’ve proven with our multiple frakparties what’s this the fourth? fifth?
Random observation: princess buttercup dresses far better in real life than she does in her dream. It’s an indication of a self-esteem problem.
Something like that. And surely not the last by a long shot.
don’t you think it’s more a matter of being uncomfortable in her new position? she did not aspire to it.
I suppose. But I think someone who is in a power position that she did not aspired for would tend to shun the trapping of power… insisting on simpler and plainer dresses and crowns and such… but her outfit is more elegant and elaborate.
(I guess it could just be that someone dresses her.)
When they made this movie, I guess they never could have imagined that piracy could become actual international problem.
yes, if you recall the book, she was monumentally dopey.
Wesley and Buttercup make a very pretty couple. Robin Wright Penn is stunningly beautiful in this movie.
what year was this made?
You know, I’ve always thought that this movie is the kind of fairy tale that I want to teach my children someday. But if you think about it, this movie is not really that great for children, especially for girls. It needs to be a little more empowering for girls, I think. I guess I’ll just wait until my imaginary children go to high school before I show this movie at family movie night.
It opened in 1987.
