The new Trek crew

No Spock…but everybody else…

I will forgive that command shirt for that Uhura.

Huh. Doesn’t look have bad. I like the texture on the uniform shirts. New-Uhura is still way hot. But Scotty/Simon Pegg has kind of a funny look on his face.

I wonder what they’re all staring at.

Oh. I just noticed Pike’s comment about the command shirt. Is Kirk really wearing all black? Or maybe he just doesn’t have his gold pullover on. Let’s hope.

Spock finding someone a little less than logical

No wonder he’s the bad guy—he needs some skin cream

could this be…the bridge!!!

so far past hot…hot was left on a drawing board

He’s in the undershirt, which is fine. It was ambiguous in TOS whether it was a different shirt or not.

I get what they’re doing with the command shirt, which is tying it in to the silver ‘cadet shirt’ (see Shore Leave.) Not digging it, but at least they’re paying attention.

And yeah, Newhura is looking good.

Who is the gold shirt guy on the left?

lets see…left to right is…

Chekov
Kirk
Scotty
McCoy
Sulu
and my wife…I mean Uhura

I like that Kirk has a cut on his face in one photo and his left hand wrapped up in the command chair. Can you say rough-and-tumble boys and girls?

Me likes the minis.

If he doesn’t have a ripped shirt and a trickle of blood out of the corner of his mouth, I’ll be pissed.

Me likes the minis.

Ladies, it’s your patriotic duty. Raise your hemlines, and save the economy!

I second the motion.

Well its about time we got a picture from the movie.

Ahh…she was Anamaria from PoTC: The Curse of the Black Pearl…thought she looked familiar.

New Sulu is MILF guy and Harold? Wonder if they have a white castle on Enterprise.

I’m a little put off that this first glimpse of Spock in action is a very Sylar-like pose doing a very Sylar like thing.

Me too.

Hoping he’s not a one-trick pony

From all the Quinto interviews I’ve read, I doesn’t sound like he’s a one trick pony. But we’ll see.

One thing is for sure. If Quinto’s Spock and Pine’s Kirk don’t have good chemistry, then that will be a disappointment.

I can’t help looking at these pictures and wondering: are they missing the point? Why are they casting people who vaguely look like the original cast or are from the same ethnic background? Are they ensuring this will fail by not getting out of their own way?

I find this troublesome. I am hoping this elevates itself above a caricature of the original.

That brings up an excellent point. Should this new Trek take itself seriously?

Unfortunate to say, regarding caricature, but I think that is the route they intend. I don’t know but from everything I’ve read it seems like taking mom’s recipe and making your own version. Sometimes diastrous, sometimes good.

IMO, Trek has always been fun. Yes, even Voyager. I kid. I kid. I really hope they can carry that over without making it parody.
