The "Lords of Kobol" The "Beings of Light" Are they coming?

We can relax - not going to happen. Now that would ruin the saga.

I keep asking myself - so now we have 12 Tribes of humans and a 13th Tribe of FF type Cylons? What would seem to them, especially the humans, to be god like Lords?

The only workable within the context of this show idea that I come up with is S7 (now S8) type Cylons. Even without resurrection tech, they would seem god like. Sort of immortal, great strength and intelligence.

So is the cycle that somehow the FF type Cylons vanish from the picture (killed or leave) and do not accomplish establishing peace between the humans and all of the human created (and improved upon by the FF) Cylons?

With the FF out of the way, do the S8 Cylons (or better stated, some of them - the Cavil faction) first enslave the remaining humans (and terminate or co-opt the rebels of their own kind) and eventually settle into a god/supplicant society - on “Kobol”? - until:

  1. The humans create FF type Cylons - which does make the S8 type too pleased. So the FF type HAVE to leave - Kobol.

  2. 2,000 years later the humans through one means or another break free of the Lords, etc.

That would make for a pretty complete cycle. And, if on Earth those “Cylons” created metallic Cylons, which revolt, you would sort of have a cycle within a cycle.

None of which explains the importance of Hera - unless the cycle is broken by her mere survival (and propogation) as a human/S8 hybrid.

So the characters that see Head Characters are: the FF, Caprica 6, Starbuck, and Baltar. So we have a total of 8 people seeing Heads of which 6 are obvious cylons. At this point Starbuck’s heritage is indispute, so that could be 7 of 8 are cylons. So is Baltar the human exception? Is he a Cylon? Is he just so damn smart that the BoL are willing to talk to him too?

It is also an open question where the kamala induced and hybrid prophesies come from.

Also, clearly the Head 6 and Head Baltar were not worried about the distruction of the Colonies. It more seemed that they were driven to bring the Cylons and Humans together to bring them to Earth. Head 6 manipulated Baltar to make it easier for the Cylons to chase the humans and forcing them on towards Earth. Remember it was originally his idea for him to get a nuke from Adama which was the ultimate reason they were discovered on NC and forced to continue on their voyage. In contrast, Head Baltar has seemed like a moderating influence on Caprica 6 so that when the Cylons finally did find the Colonials they attempted some form of co-habitation and didn’t kill them outright. In the end it seems the Heads are most interested in the humans and cylons finding Earth or what ever the promised land turns out to be together. We haven’t seen much of Head 6 as late, but maybe that’s because things are progressing as ‘planned’.

Cavil has a hand in the Heads? He’s been manipulating the FF.

Ok, something just registered (forgive me if I’m late to the party here).

Think back to Starbuck and her Viper heading into the Maelstrom, Apollo is pleading with her to pull out. Just before the Viper is torn apart, Starbuck says, “…They’re waiting for me.”

So what does that mean? The Lords of Kobol are waiting for her? The Final Five?

Couldn’t he be talking about the fleet itself being a miracle? That it was a miracle that the humans survived at all? And maybe he attributes that miracle to the influence of angels.

Maybe, with all the “cycles” cycling around, maybe no one ever escaped in such great numbers before. Maybe there is something significant in this cycle. (or why bother showing us any of it? it would be soooo much more depressing otherwise.)

I hope this is answered too because it has been driving me nuts from the beginning!

I don’t know about them being all that advanced though. Maybe having advanced tech, but they themselves are just ordinary I think. I don’t remember quite all what was supposed to have happened on Kobol according to the myths, but didn’t all the tribes’ leaders get sacrificed to the gods? That doesn’t sound advanced to me, sounds rather barbaric.

And what about that one, Athena, who killed herself? I bet she was actually thrown off the cliffs!

Are the LofK are connected to the Head characters? I’m torn on that one. Head 6 certainly isn’t trying to help anybody except Baltar and probably not even him now that I think about it.

I guess I just don’t think that these “other” beings (LofK, Head characters, etc) are all that helpful to anybody. Do they really want to stop the cycle - to make an effort and go out of their way to HELP out of the goodness of their hearts? Ummmm… no. Not the way I see it. The BSG universe is not exactly chock full of nicey-nice people who help others just because it’s the nice thing to do.

On a related note, that’s why the reason for the ff for going to the Colonies (to help them out of the goodness of their hearts!) just hasn’t rung true for me. At best they probably looked at each other and said “Frak. Now what?” Going to the colonies was probably as good an answer as anything at that point. “Let’s HELP them!” was probably just tacked on as an excuse.

Let’s get this straight : is the lady singing in Senegalese or Sinhalese?

I have to say, I’ve believed, as far back as the last half of Season 2, that the Beings of Light were involved (in this time, if they weren’t involved with the events we’ve seen on the show, than they DEFINITELY had a hand with the events of Kobol). The reason why I began thinking this was because of a deleted scene for “Kobol’s Last Gleaming”. Tigh asks Elosha why it was that humans left Kobol, Elosha explained that one of the gods wanted to be above all others, which resulted in a war. Head Six’s reply, “Lies. There’s only been the one.” sounded rather bitter. The story matches what happened with the BOL and Count Iblis from the old show (plus, the original episodes in which the BOL and Count Iblis show up in is titled “War of the Gods”, think about that). And due to Head Six’s reply in that deleted scene, Head Leoban’s response to Starbuck’s “You’re not Leoban” comment and the fact that we have two human beings, one hybrid, three Cylons models {Eight, Six and Three} have seen the Opera House vision, I believe that the Beings of Light and the “Count Iblis” Being in this show’s run are responsible for the Head Characters we’ve seen. In fact, I don’t believe D’anna saw the Final Five in her Opera House vision from the episode “Rapture”. I think she saw the Beings of Light, who took on the appearance of the Final Five, in order to influence events.

Besides, Starbuck’s resurrection, her knowing the way to Earth but not remembering how she got to and from and her vision of the Rebel Basestar BEFORE she saw it slightly matches what happened in the original show with the “War of the Gods” two-parter. For those who don’t remember, Apollo was killed by Iblis (who was trying to kill Sheba). Starbuck and Sheba were taking Apollo’s body back to Galactica when they were intercepted by the Beings of Light. They brought Apollo back to life and gave Apollo, Starbuck and Sheba some knowledge on how to get to Earth, and also wiped out their memories of being intercepted and on board the Ship of Lights.

Why would the Beings of Light be involved with humans on Kobol, or why would they be involved with the humans and the Cylons now, if they are involved? Simple. To quote one of the beings from the original two-parter: “What you are, we once were. What we are, you will become.”

That’s just me, of course. Could be wrong.

It’s Sinhalese (I think).

Whatever it is, it’s beautiful !

Very interesting CB. I guess we’ll soon find out.

TU FUI EGO ERIS (What you are I was, What I am you will become)

Found on Roman tombs.

Well, clickclickboom, Glen A. Larson (the man responsible for the original “Battlestar Galactica”, drew inspiration from various myths and cultures. He got the name Kobol from Kolob (which happens to be a Mormon word). So, naturally, it would make sense he would know that phrase and have it used in the show.

well, Batlar said he felt Gods presence in that girls boobs - so I guess anyting is possible

Nice! Thanks for that.

If you can’t feel god’s presence there then I don’t know where you could.
